The St. Louis Blues announced this evening that goaltender Jake Allen will be sidelined for 10-14 days while he deals with back spasms.

Jake Allen Injury Trims St. Louis Blues Camp Roster
Allen, 28, suited up in 59 games for the Blues last season. Finishing with a 25-27-3 record, 2.75 goals against average, and .906 save percentage. While it was not his best year, Allen has proved himself to be the Blues number one guy in net. His previous three seasons excluding last year were very impressive. While only missing 10-14 days, it looks like Jake Allen will be ready to go when the season kicks off in October.
Over his five-year NHL career, Allen has spent his entire career with the St. Louis Blues. He has a career record of 205-117-71 in 219 games. He was originally drafted in the second round, 34th overall of the 2008 NHL draft by the St. Louis Blues.
With the injuries, the Blues are expected to start training camp with 53 players on Friday at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Outlet Mall.
What This Means for the Future
Missing the first two weeks of camp might set Jake Allen back a bit but certainly nothing to concern over. Once back in action in camp, Allen will begin to get a grip on his play and hopefully be ready for puck drop. While it may seem alarming to some, the Blues clearly want to be safer than sorry for their number one goaltender’s future.
The team also announced that Erik Foley will also be out with a concussion. Foley got hurt at the 2018 NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City. Goalie Luke Oplika will also be out after dealing with hip surgery. The Blues also trimmed their training camp roster on Wednesday, removing Dominik Bokk, Jared Thomas, Mathias Laferreire, Trenton Borque, David Noel and Tyler Tucker.
