The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have made an arrest in the April 6th crash involving the Humboldt Broncos team bus and semi-truck. These reports come from the Canadian Broadcasting Company.

Arrest Made in Humboldt Broncos Crash
Jaskirat Singh Sidhu of Calgary is facing a total 29 charges stemming from the crash. Charges against the 29-year-old are 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. A Friday afternoon press conference in Regina by Officers Curtis Zalbocki and Derek Williams provided information surrounding the arrest.
The investigation took nearly three months and involved many man-hours.
Sixteen people were killed and 13 more were injured when the bus and the semi crashed at a rural intersection of Highway 335 and Highway 35 between Nipawin and Tisdale. There was a stop sign at the intersection. The bus had the right of way and Sidhu was to wait at the flashing stop sign.
Sidhu drove west on Highway 335 and the team was headed north on Highway 35. He had been driving on his own for two weeks when the accident occurred. The crash did not injure Sidhu.
The accident killed 10 Broncos players. Six other deaths included the bus driver, an athletic therapist, the head coach, assistant coach and two employees of Humboldt’s FM radio station.
The accident happened when Humbolt was travelling to Game 5 of their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semi-final series with the Nipawin Hawks.
What Does it Mean
There is no word on when the trial would start. However, it will be emotional if and when there is one. The tragedy hit Humboldt and the rest of the hockey world hard. We’ll keep you up-to-date as more information becomes available.
