Juolevi was drafted by the Canucks fifth overall during the 2016 NHL Draft. He then signed his entry-level contract but has yet to make his debut with the Canucks.

After the draft, Juolevi reported back to the OHL and the London Knights for his second season with the team. He recorded 10 goals and 32 assists, almost identical to the nine goals and 33 assists he put up the season before.

Recording six goals and 16 assists in 32 playoff games, Juolevi helped the Knights capture the J. Ross Robertson Cup in both seasons he was with the team. The trophy is given to the champion of the OHL.

While with the Knights, Juolevi picked up numerous accolades. In his first season, he was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team and the OHL Third All-Star Team. He was named to the CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team, as well.

Juolevi was loaned to TPS in the Finnish league this past season. This slid his entry-level contract another year. In 38 games, Juolevi recorded seven goals and 12 assists.

He has also spent time with Finland’s international team on multiple occasions. Overall, Juolevi had one goal and 14 assists while participating in 18 World Junior Championship games. He was a part of the gold medal-winning team in 2015-16.

Juolevi was named one of the top three players on Finland’s team after this year’s tournament. He recorded one goal and three assists in five games.

What This Means For The Future

Canucks fans are no strangers to the surgery that Juolevi will be undergoing. Alexander Edler had the same procedure in 2011. He was out of the lineup for about two and a half months.

With both Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin retiring, the Canucks are expected to bring even more youth into their lineup. Time will tell if Juolevi will be one of the prospects to make the jump.
