Toronto Maple Leafs Promote Brandon Pridham

Brandon Pridham

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas wasted no time filling the assistant general manager position. The Leafs announced today that they would be promoting Brandon Pridham to the role. The position was previously filled by Mark Hunter, who the team mutually parted ways with on Monday.

Leafs Promote Brandon Pridham to Assitant General Manager

The 44-year-old Pridham was hired by Brendan Shanahan in 2014. Before being promoted he was known as the assistant to the general manager. Pridham was in charge of making sure the Leafs followed all the rules of the collective bargaining agreement as well as helped with contract negotiations.

Before joining the Leafs, Pridham worked with the NHL Central Scouting Bureau for 15 years. He was the primary contact for NHL general manager and other executives. He also dealt with the CBA, salary cap, and NHL Central Scouting Department.

Pridham is considered a very valuable asset to the Maple Leafs organization, as he knows the ins and outs when it comes to contract negotiations. He is also widely credited for finding the loopholes in the CBA which could be exploited by then general manager Lou Lamoriello.

Here’s what Dubas had to say about Pridham: “Brandon’s promotion to Assistant General Manager is most deserving,” said Dubas. “Working closely with him for the last four seasons has allowed me to see the value that he brings to our program across many domains.”

“Brandon is a vital part of our organization today and moving forward. He has earned this title with his selfless contributions to the Maple Leafs during his time here.”

Leafs Staying with Familiar Faces

It’s a good day for the Leafs as they stuck with the game plan Shanahan had in place. They promoted people who were within the organization to fill the roles left by Lamoriello and Hunter, making the transition quick and easy. The Leafs will now set their focuses on gearing up for the draft in June.
