The Florida Panthers announced that goalie James Reimer is sidelined for a few weeks with a groin injury.

James Reimer Injured
Reimer was hurt after kicking out his right leg attempting to stop a Greg Pateryn slap shot that went wide of the net in Florida’s 6-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. No one made contact with the Morweena, Manitoba native and he was hesitant to put weight on the affected leg.
So far this season, he is 13-12-5 in 32 games this season. He has a 3.04 goals against average and a .911 save percentage with two shutouts in 2017-18.
Over his 8-year NHL career Reimer has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks and Florida Panthers He has a record of 122-106-33 in 290 career games. Reimer has a 2.78 goals against average and a .915 save percentage with 19 shutouts for his career. He was originally drafted in the 4th round, 99th overall of the 2006 NHL draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“We’re already obviously without our big guy, our starting goalie,” Panthers coach Bob Boughner said to reporters in Dallas. “And then you see your other guy go down. I’m sure that affected the team a little bit on the bench for a while.”
What This Means for the Future
The Panthers will continue musical chairs with their goalies as Harri Sateri replaced Reimer in the lineup. Sateri had a rough outing as he gave up six goals on 36 shots in the loss.
Florida is already without regular starting goalie Roberto Luongo, who suffered a lower-body injury in December. The enigmatic netminder is targeting a return to the lineup in February.
Reimer has filled in admirably since the Luongo injury. He’s started 18 of the last 19 games, including 17 in a row. He’s posted a 2.59 GAA and was named the league’s third star of the week on Dec. 24.
