The Vancouver Canucks suffer the loss of Brock Boeser. Boesser is going in for an MRI today to determine the extent of his injury. Last night, he blocked a shot from the Calgary Flames Mark Giordano with his foot. Giordano’s shot hit Boesser and he immediately went down to the ice. Boeser was unable to put any weight on the foot. He left the ice by crawling in what appeared to be extreme pain. He did not return to the game. Despite the injury, the team turned in a poor performance against the Flames. Their 6-1 loss ranks as one of the worst of the season.

Vancouver Canucks Brock Boeser Out With Foot Injury
Expected to be amongst the worst teams in the NHL after the 2016-17 season, the Canucks surprised everyone by building a winning record. A large part of that winning record has fallen to the goal scoring Calder candidate Boeser. He has been an offensive engine for the Canucks. The 20-year-old winger has a team-high 30 points, 17 goals, 13 assists in 31 games. His ability to create space and to set-up linemates and score from anywhere powers an already decimated Canucks offense.
Canucks Successful This Season Despite Mounting Injuries
While the Canucks have been successful this season, it has been despite a mounting list of injuries, of which Boeser’s is the latest. Furthermore, they have seen the retirement of Derek Dorsett due to the effects of the back injury that caused cervical vertebrae to fuse. The Canucks have a host of other players out due to injury. What follows is a list of the players and their respective injuries and likely recovery times: Bo Horvat – four-to-six weeks, Chris Tanev – two-to-three weeks, Sven Baertschi – four-to-six weeks, Brandon Sutter – four weeks and counting, Erik Gudbranson four weeks and counting.
Coach Confident
Additionally, with the number of injuries to players as high to play a line plus it would seem that the Canucks are destined for the cellar in the Pacific division. But, it seems coach Travis Green is still confident in his team, saying of the loss to the Flames, “we didn’t play a bad game, we just didn’t get the result we wanted.”
