The Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday that top line centre Bo Horvat suffered a fractured foot, and will be out for several weeks. Horvat appeared to suffer the injury in the third period of Tuesday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canucks won the game 3-0.

“He’s seeing a specialist today,” coach Travis Green said to the Vancouver Province.
“It’s going to be multiple weeks…probably up to six weeks.”
“It’s going to be a big opportunity for someone on our team.”
Bo Horvat out Long Term with Broken Foot
Horvat, 22, had 10 goals and 20 points in 28 games for the Canucks this season. This puts him second on the team in both categories. His line, with rookie sensation Brock Boeser, and Nikolay Goldobin has been hot of late for Vancouver.
Replacing Horvat in the line-up will not be easy. The Canucks are also without centre Brandon Sutter, but should get Alex Burmistrov back from injury tonight. They also recalled Michael Chaput from their AHL affiliate in Utica.
“We’re not talking about who is out, we’re talking about who is in and how we’re going to win. It’s unfortunate, but it gives guys an opportunity to step up.” coach Travis Green also said on Thursday.
The Canucks drafted Horvat at ninth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, after trading Cory Schneider to get the pick from the New Jersey Devils. He is in his fourth NHL season, all with Vancouver. The former London Knights player, has 59 goals and 78 assists for 137 points in 259 career NHL games.
