Former Vancouver Canucks forward Jack Skille is reported to be close to a deal with the Dinamo Minsk of the KHL. Skille, 30, was drafted seventh overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He spent four seasons with the Hawks, until he was traded to the Panthers along with Michael Frolik in 2010. Skille signed with the Canucks on October 13th last year on a one year deal.

Jack Skille Expected To Sign In KHL
Skille is mostly known for his depth presence, as that’s what he’s been for teams in the past years. The winger sits at 84 career points in 368 games played. For a guy who was drafted in 2005, that is not a large number of games played for him. Skille has never played a full 82 game season due to being sent down to the AHL, and a myriad of injuries throughout his career. Just in 2016 and 2017 alone he has suffered five different injuries. These include a back injury, concussion, upper-body, undisclosed and ankle injury. It’s fair to say that all of those injuries, and previous he has suffered before these, held Skille back from developing into the player he wanted to be.
Skille clearly thinks he’s still got a lot in the tank and he is willing to go overseas to prove that. It is still unclear as to how long he will sign for in the KHL, but if he signs a one year deal and does well, he could make his return to the NHL as early as next year. He’s proven to be a useful depth player and that could go a long way for teams looking to make a run.
