Center Radek Faksa signed a three-year, $6.6 million contract extension with the Dallas Stars. He will stay with the team until 2020 and the contract carries an AAV of $2.2 million per season. Faksa has spent the first two years of his career with Dallas.

Radek Faksa Re-Signs With Dallas Stars
After two slides on his entry-level deal into the NHL, Faksa remained under club control until this off-season despite signing the pact in 2012. He played his first full NHL season this past year after a 45-game stint in 2015-16. Entering a season in which he’ll turn 24 in the middle of it, Faksa looks poised to break out with his squad in 2017-18.
It took Faksa a couple of years to get acclimated to the professional game in the AHL, scoring nine goals nine goals and 31 points in 61 games. By 2015-16 however, he was almost at a point-per-game pace scoring 15 goals and 26 points in 28 games earning a call-up to Dallas. The former 13th overall pick in 2012 scored five goals and 12 points in 45 games, having an impressive playoff potting three more goals and five more points in 12 2016 Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
In 2016-17 with injuries abound for the Stars, he jumped up from a 12:21 average ice time to a 16:10 average, and his point totals reflect the increased duty. His 12 goals (all at even strength) and 33 points provided one of the bright spots in a regressive year for the Stars which saw them miss the playoffs and lose former head coach Lindy Ruff. He’s also been on the right side of the possession arrow, coming in at a solid 52.36% Corsi-for percentage through his career thus far. His 59.66 Corsi-for per 60 is right behind Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.
This is Faksa’s first standard contract after his entry-level deal. He looks to be a big part of the Stars’ future and will look to take another step next season under new head coach Ken Hitchcock.
