The Philadelphia Flyers have traded Brayden Schenn to the St. Louis Blues for a the 27th overall pick, Jori Lehtera, and a conditional first round pick in next year’s draft. The Flyers drafted Morgan Frost with the 27th pick.

Brayden Schenn Traded to St. Louis Blues
Schenn, who can player center and wing, has been a power play machine the last couple of seasons, scoring 28 goals and 40 points on the man advantage out of his overall 51 goals goals and 114 points. He will help out the Blues in that department. Overall, this was the third 20-goal season for Schenn, who will turn 26 in August. He scored 25+ goals in each of his four full WHL seasons. He is a former fifth overall pick of the Los Angeles Kings, drafted in 2009. He is signed for this and the next two years to the tune of a $5.1 million cap hit.
Jori Lehtera is another center who had a difficult 2016-17, which saw his goal and point total decrease for the third straight season at seven goals and 22 points. It is a far-cry from his first NHL season which saw him score 14 goals and 44 points after coming over from the KHL, where was nearly a point-per game player. His contract is considered a salary dump, as he’s signed for a $4.7 million cap hit for this season and next. He will likely slot in at the third line center spot with the selection of Nolan Patrick and can be interchangeable in the top nine.
Morgan Frost scored 20 goals and 62 points for the Sault. Ste. Marie Greyhounds this season, a 13-goal, 35-point improvement from last season. He’ll look to fill the center depth lost from Schenn.
