Ebbing has just completed four years at the University of Michigan State, scoring three goals and 16 points in his last season. The Troy, Michigan native was named the Spartans most improved player in his junior year (2015-2016) when he netted a career best five goals and 19 points.

Prior to committing to Michigan State, Ebbing played a season with the USHL’s Chicago Steel scoring 16 goals and 30 points. In high school Ebbing was a high scoring forward, but has developed into a defensive specialist at Michigan State. He finished his career ranking fourth nationally, among forwards, in blocked shots (59). He was also third in the Big Ten in face-off wins (399).

The signing is a pure depth move for either the Habs AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, or the Brampton Beast of the ECHL. Ebbing’s contract does not include eligibility to be called up to the NHL. Fans will most probably get a look at Ebbing at the Habs annual rookie tournament and development camp this summer.

Ebbing, 22, is a left handed shot standing 5’11” and is 172 pounds. He has mainly played centre.
