After sustaining a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, one thought to be minor according to head coach Mike Yeo, Paul Stastny will need at least a week of evaluation before returning to the ice for the Blues.

St. Louis Blues Center Paul Stastny Out Week-to-Week
The injury is the third “lower-body” type of ailment this season for the 31-year old, and sixth since coming to the Blues in 2014 signing a four-year, $28 million contract. It has been the most productive in terms of goal totals for the centerman, netting 18 after 16 and ten respectively in each of the past two years.
This season, Stastny has been a key cog for the Blues playing in his natural position between David Perron and Alex Steen and on the wing with Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko. His impact has been evident, as among Blues forwards minimum 450 minutes played, he ranks sixth among Blues forwards in Corsi-for per 60 minutes (53.49), sixth in Fenwick for per 60 (39.43), and third in goals-for per 60 (2.56). Defensively, he’s fifth in Corsi-against per 60 (51.78) and fourth in Fenwick-against per 60 (37.32).
Over his career, Stastny has been a reliable producer, needing two goals to break 20 for the eighth time. His 13 at even strength rank third on the team. On special teams, Stastny has logged a great deal responsibility on the power play and penalty kill. He ranks fourth among forwards in time logged for each playing 170:26 and 107:31 respectively, scoring five power play goals and 13 man advantage points. His impact on both ends has St. Louis ranking sixth at 84.6% and fourth at 22.3% respectively.
Stastny was drafted in the second round (44th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Avalanche. He has scored 204 goals and 593 points in 742 games.
