Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday morning that the team will move on without Hitchcock at the helm. Hitchcock has been the head coach of the Blues since November 8th 2011. Over the past six seasons he has compiled a 248-124-41 regular season record.

The Blues have dropped five of their last six games, and finish the month of January 5-8. They are currently in the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

There are only five players on the current Blues roster that remain from the team when Hitchcock was hired in 2011. Alex Pietrangelo, Alex Steen, Patrik Berglund, David Perron and Ryan Reaves

Yeo spent the majority of his career as the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. He led the Wild to a 173-132-44 record and three consecutive playoff appearances.

Also, Yeo spent 10 seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Four of which were as an assistant coach, where he was a part of the 2009 Stanley Cup winning team.

In 2011, Yeo led the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League to the Calder Cup Final.

Yeo was set to take over for Hitchcock at the start of the 2017-18 season after Hitchcock retired. His tenure will begin earlier than expected.
