Arizona Coyotes Max Domi out Indefinitely After Hand Surgery

Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced Tuesday that Domi had successfully completed hand surgery and will be out of the lineup indefinitely as a result. Domi sustained the hand injury in a fight with Garnet Hathaway during the second period of a game against the Calgary Flames on Dec. 8.

Domi currently has five goals and 11 assists in 26 games this season. He put up 18 goals and 34 assists in 81 games last season as a rookie. The Coyotes are expecting Domi to make a full successful recovery and be back in the lineup later this season.

Filling the Void

Domi’s upcoming absence comes at an unfortunate time for the Coyotes. His position in the lineup will have to be distributed amongst other forwards such as Anthony DuclairRadim Vrbata, and Jamie McGinn.

The Coyotes currently sit last in the NHL’s standings, with a 9-14-5 record on the season. They will need all the help they can get during Domi’s untimely injury.

Laurent Dauphin Sent Down to AHL

The Coyotes were also busy Tuesday assigning forward Laurent Dauphin to the Tucson Roadrunners, the club’s AHL affiliate.

Dauphin notched two goals and one assist as well as eight penalty minutes in 20 games this season with the Coyotes. The 21-year-old forward was originally drafted by the Coyotes 39th overall in the 2013 Entry Draft.

The Coyotes will play the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit Tuesday night.
