Detroit Red Wings Play-By-Play Announcer’s Son Passes Away

The Detroit Red Wings organization and hockey community overall are coming together in support of play-by-play commentator Ken Daniels and his family.

Jamie, 23, reportedly passed away in his sleep this morning.

With his father taking over as the play-by-play commentator for the Red Wings since 1997 after moving from CBC Sports, Jamie had basically grown up around the organization and various broadcasting personnel that had brought Red Wings games to televisions all over the state and the world.

It is unknown if the elder Daniels will miss tomorrow’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets or other games on the team’s upcoming homestand against the Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, or Anaheim Ducks.

Condolences from the entire Last Word On Sports community go to the Daniels family at this time.
