Tyler Seguin Out with Hairline Fracture in Heel

An MRI today revealed that Tyler Seguin suffered a hairline fracture in his heel during Canada‘s first exhibition game against the United States. Seguin left the first game, for a bit, but came back and played in the next game. Ryan O’Reilly, of the Buffalo Sabres, joined Canada this week to to replace Tyler Seguin.

Seguin will be re-evaluated next week, to see how well he is coming along; as well as to get an estimate on how long he’ll be out. As of right now, there is no estimate on the amount of time he will miss with the injury.

“Upon returning to Dallas yesterday, Tyler Seguin underwent an MRI that detected a hairline fracture in his heel,” stated Stars general manager Jim Nill in a statement issued by the club. “His status for training camp will be re-evaluated in one week.”

Seguin had 73 points in 72 games for the Dallas Stars last season. He had the second most points on the team, behind Jamie Benn (89). Benn was also selected to Team Canada and also had to drop out of the tournament early because of injury.
