Talented Receiver From the Sunshine State

Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats have yet another Top 25 recruiting class in 2024. Most of the attention has gone towards the defense side of the ball. However, the Cats have some very talented offensive players coming in as well. Let’s introduce you to one of them as Kentucky signs receiver Hardley Gilmore.

Big Time Playmaker

The 6-1, 165-pound Gilmore committed to Kentucky on August 25th. He had offers from such schools as Alabama, Central Florida, and Penn State but ultimately picked the Cats. Gilmore reclassified from the 2025 to 2024 class even though he was only 16 at the time.

Hailing from Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Florida Gilmore ranks as the 41st best player in the Sunshine State and 49th best wide receiver in the nation. In addition, the 247 Sports Composite rankings put him as the 314th-best player in America. Gilmore also played defensive back but is expected to play receiver at Kentucky.

During the recently finished 2023 season, Gilmore hauled in 52 receptions for 879 yards and 15 touchdowns. One of his biggest games of the year came against Atlantic High School of Delray Beach, Florida where he hauled in 10 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He also had a tackle. In addition to football Gilmore also ran track and competed in some field events. He finished third in the state long jump last year and was sixth in the 800 meters, which isn’t usually what a receiver would compete in.

Now that we’ve given you some background let’s look to the future as Kentucky signs receiver Hardley Gilmore.

How He Fits In

Kentucky has two-star receivers coming back for next year in Barion Brown and Dane Key. In addition, they have two incoming transfers, Ja’Mori Maclin of North Texas and Texas A&M’s Raymond Cottrell. They also have a top recruit from a year ago Shamar Porter. However, they are losing Tayvion Robinson to the NFL Draft and Dekel Crowdus transferred. Most likely Gilmore will learn the system for a year and then be ready to go in 2025.
