Davis Bertans has spent each of the last eight seasons playing in the NBA. Throughout that time, the six-foot-10 forward has showcased an elite trait in the league. That is his outside shooting particularly from three-point range. It has helped keep him in the league despite not being the most athletic and occasional struggles on the defensive end.
Now 31 years old, Bertans remains unsigned for the 2024-25 season. The Latvian was waived by the Charlotte Hornets in July. His deal for $16 million was partially guaranteed for next season, and Charlotte will be on the hook for $5.25 million after waiving him. It was a few days ago that it was being reported that Bertans had a workout scheduled for the Golden State Warriors.
While it’s unclear how that workout went, it seems like it won’t land Bertans a contract with Golden State. Reports are that he will play overseas next season.

Bertans To Play In The ABA League Next Season?
It has been reported that it is likely Bertans will be leaving the NBA to play for Dubai BC. The basketball club is based in the Emirates. It was announced earlier this year that Dubai BC would be a part of the ABA League for the next three seasons.

Bertans has ample experience playing professionally outside of the NBA. He was selected with the 42nd overall pick in 2011 but didn’t make his NBA debut until 2016. After being drafted, Bertans played professionally for teams in Slovenia, Serbia, and Spain. He also played in his home country in the Latvian Basketball League prior to being selected in the NBA Draft.
Spent The Last 8 Seasons In The NBA
As already mentioned, Bertans’ best trait has been his outside shooting. For his NBA career, he has connected on 39.7% of his three-point attempts. He shot over 42% from beyond the arc in back-to-back seasons (2018-19 and 2019-20). In the latter of those years, Bertans had a career-best season with the Washington Wizards. He averaged 15.4 points while finishing 11th in Most Improved Player and eighth in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
It was after that season that Bertans was able to cash in with a large sum of money. He re-signed with Washington in the 2020 offseason on a five-year deal worth $80 million. He never was able to produce quite like he did in that 2019-20 season again. Bertans averaged in double figures in the following season but has averaged just 5.6 points over the last three seasons. He has been a part of three trades over that time.
The eight-year NBA veteran began last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder before ending with the Hornets. After playing sparingly for a stacked Thunder team, Bertans averaged 8.8 points in 28 games for a downtrodden Charlotte squad. In his career, Bertans has donned the jersey of five teams in the San Antonio Spurs, Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Thunder, and Hornets. In 475 regular season games, he owns averages of 7.7 points and 2.4 rebounds. The Latvian also saw action in 45 postseason contests.
