Report: Andre Iguodala Agrees to Re-Sign With Golden State Warriors

According to reports, veteran swingman Andre Iguodala agrees to a three-year, $48 million contract to remain with the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have agreed to sign unrestricted free agent small forward Andre Iguodala to a contract worth $48 million over three years. The contract cannot officially be signed until the end of the NBA’s moratorium period on July 6th.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news on Saturday night:

Andre Iguodala Agrees to Re-Sign With Golden State Warriors

Iguodala’s new deal will take him through the end of the 2019-20 season.

Iguodala averaged 7.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game last season for the Golden State Warriors. He was again a key cog for the Warriors off the bench, with his versatility and excellent defense helping them as they went 16-1 in the playoffs and won the NBA championship. Iguodala was even more vital in Golden State’s 2015 title run, winning the Finals MVP award.

Looking forward, Iguodala will continue to provide a steady veteran presence and excellent perimeter defense for Golden State. He’s also a valuable playmaker, coming off the bench to relieve pressure off the Warriors’ bigger stars. Golden State will need Iguodala to continue his consistent play in order to be the title favorite again in the 2017-18 season.

Iguodala is going into his 14th season in the league, during which he’ll be 33 years old. He’s played his last four seasons for the Warriors. Before that, he spent one season with the Denver Nuggets. The Philadelphia 76ers traded him to Denver in a four-team deal in the summer of 2012. Iguodala spent his first eight seasons in Philadelphia, where he was an All-Star back in the 2011-12 season.
