Tre Mann 2021 NBA Draft Profile

College Career

Mann was a five-star recruit out of high school from The Villages, Florida. He didn’t receive much playing time during his freshman season at Florida. Across 17.8 minutes per game, he averaged 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. Mann then returned to Florida for a sophomore season and excelled as a starter.

The former Florida Gator averaged 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest. He led the team in scoring last season. Florida would later make the NCAA Tournament and make it to the Round of 32. They fell to Oral Roberts in a thriller. Mann took home a couple of awards last season. He was named to the First Team All-SEC by the coaches and the Second Team All-SEC by the media.

Strengths

One of  Mann’s main strengths is that he can score from anywhere on the court. Mann’s shooting touch also allows him to do just that. He’s a crafty finisher and has one of the best floater games out of every prospect in this year’s draft pool. Mann is also a dangerous outside shooter. He shot 40.2 percent from three during his sophomore season at Florida. With regards to his shooting ability, he is also a great shooter off the dribble. His ability to stop on the dime to shoot pull-up jumpers is elite.

Another thing that stands out about him is that he has great ball-handling skills. His ability to create separation allows him to score from all three levels on the court as a shot creator. Mann’s shiftiness is what makes him a difficult cover. He also has good height at the guard position standing 6’5″ and has good athleticism. His athleticism is a reason why he’s a good finisher around the rim. Mann is also a solid playmaker despite being a score-first guard. He averaged 3.5 assists last year with Florida. He’s capable of making good reads when running a pick-and-roll.

Weaknesses

One of Mann’s weaknesses as a prospect is his strength and physicality. He stands at 6’5″ but only weighs about 190 pounds. He can certainly benefit from bulking up in order to handle physical players at the NBA level. His wingspan is also something that makes him an unappealing prospect. Mann only has a 6’5″ wingspan which is identical to his height. While he’s an average defender, but it’s difficult to see him improve drastically on that end of the floor due to his length.

Another thing that makes Mann unappealing as a prospect is his lack of burst. He’s not someone who beats his opponents with an explosive first step. Mann is also prone to turning the ball over quite a bit. He averaged 2.8 turnovers per game last season. Mann’s decision-making is something he has to improve on at the NBA level and his assist-to-turnover ratio reflects just that.

Comparison

Mann has drawn comparisons to Darius Garland and they have many similarities in their games. They are both very shifty, can create off the dribble, and knock down shots from anywhere on the court. Mann is a taller version of Garland but he isn’t the playmaker and elite shooter that Garland is.
