NBA Trade Rumors: Draymond Green to the Miami Heat and More

With the NBA trade deadline just one day away, there is still an influx of trade rumors and scenarios all across the league. The trade deadline is still set to occur Thursday, Feb. 6th at 3 p.m. ET/12 P.M. PT. Multiple teams seek to take advantage of the trade deadline to clear up cap space and rearrange their rosters before the post-All-Star weekend stretch.

NBA Trade Rumors Prior to the Deadline

Draymond Green to the Miami Heat

According to Miami Heat insider Greg Lief Slyvander, the Heat have shown interest to Warriors’ forward Draymond Green.

While the deal is intriguing, multiple issues could hinder this possibility, including cap space, Green’s current contract (4-year, $100 million) or getting another team involved. However, the Heat can have another blockbuster trade by bringing in a 3-time champion and former Defensive Player of the Year into their roster. Green is currently averaging 8.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

Houston Rockets to Close in on Deal for a Center

In yesterday’s four-team, 12-player trade, the Houston Rockets sent centers Clint Capela and Nenê to the Atlanta Hawks.

P.J. Tucker will currently be at the center position, but the Rockets are “closing in” on a trade for a center, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic. Houston is currently talking to two Eastern Conference teams to propose a deal.

Iko didn’t indicate who specifically Houston is talking to; however, East centers Tristan  Thompson and Andre Drummond are believed to available. Other Eastern Conference centers believed to be available is Deandre Jordan and Julius Randle.

Trading away Capela and Nene has left Houston in an ideally tough spot at the center position. Tucker is 6’5 at 245 lbs, which is not ideal for a center. And while Houston has backups centers Tyson Chandler and Isaiah Hartenstein, the depth of the center position can be a concern for the Rockets moving forward.

Phoenix Suns Fielding in Calls on Kelly Oubre

The Phoenix Suns are open to taking in trade calls regarding SF Kelly Oubre Jr., according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Oubre Jr. recently signed a contract extension with the Suns back in July worth $30 million for 2 years. Breaking down the contract, Kelly earns $15 million per year and is under contract through next season, which, as a result, makes his contract feasible for the Suns and another team to work with. His numbers also make him an attractive asset in the market, as he averages 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, and Portland Trailblazers are possible destinations for Oubre Jr.
