NBA Trade Rumors Ahead of the Trade Deadline

NBA Trade Rumors: Clint Capela to the Atlanta Hawks

Starting center Clint Capela is in trade talks according to Shams Charania in what has been a shock from the Houston Rockets organization. The Rockets are hoping to flip the 25-year-old for both a wing player and a center. The organization has also expressed gathering draft picks. They are hopefully looking to free up his 4-year, $73 million contract. A three-team trade, however, must happen for that scenario to be in play. The team hopes to trade him to the Eastern Conference if they are to find the right package to suit their needs.

The Atlanta Hawks could be a possible destination for the big man. Capela might become the Hawks’ second option if they are not able to meet the price tag for Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond. The Hawks are in need of a defensive presence in the paint to compliment John Collins and pair up well with Trae Young thus the need at center. The Swiss is averaging 13.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game on 63 percent shooting this season.

Latest on Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson

In recent developments, the Cleveland Cavaliers have placed center Tristan Thompson on the trade block according to Chris Haynes. The big man is averaging career highs in points and rebounds this season—averaging 12 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers want to get some value off him as he will become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Thompson will be effective in a contending team looking for a rebounding center with low usage in the paint.

In other news, Kevin Love is not expected to be traded this week according to Adrian Wojnarowski. It was widely expected that the superstar will be traded this year after signing the supermax last offseason. The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be asking for more young players and draft picks after they traded Jordan Clarkson to the Utah Jazz last month.

D’Angelo Russell Trade Talks Continue

With the trade deadline heating up, Golden State Warriors guard D’Angelo Russell is subject to trade rumors once again. Talks have continued between the Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves as they are hoping to strike a deal soon according to Marc Stein. The Warriors are adamant of trading their star guard. The team wants to experiment with a Stephen Curry-D’Angelo Russell backcourt this season once Curry returns.

The New York Knicks has “registered their interest” for D’Angelo Russell as well in a deal involving Julius Randle going to the Bay Area. The Warriors will be looking for a first-round pick in this scenario. They are not in a rush to trade away their star guard too soon.

Updates on the Andre Iguodala Saga

In the underlying story of this season, Memphis Grizzlies small forward Andre Iguodala has not practiced yet with the team this season. The Grizzlies front office is scouting the market for possible trade scenarios after acquiring Iguodala in the offseason. The Grizzlies have reportedly offered Iguodala in exchange for a late 2020 first-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks. The Dallas Mavericks meanwhile is adamant to go after Igoudala after acquiring Willie Cauley-Stein last month as well.

It is unclear right now if the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, or the Houston Rockets are still interested in the services of Igoudala. They were all perceived to be frontrunners for the champions’ signature this season. Expect him to be in demand in the waiver market afterwards if Iguodala does not get traded this week.
