Ricky Rubio Will Return Saturday

Minnesota Timberwolves expect point guard Ricky Rubio will return Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, according to coach Tom Thibodeau. Rubio was ruled out indefinitely after spraining his elbow against the Sacramento Kings in their second game of the season.

In Rubio’s absence, Kris Dunn and Tyus Jones have filled the void, albeit with much to be desired. Dunn has started each of the last five games averaging 4.4 points and 4.6 assists in 24 minutes per game. While Jones has averaged 6.4 points and 4.6 assists per game in 23.4 minutes off the bench.

The return of Rubio will be a welcome sight for the Timberwolves. As they have gone 2-3 without him and have given up an average of 104 points per game. Minnesota will be hoping that the Rubio will be able to open up the offense due to his playmaking abilities.

Minnesota’s upcoming game against the Clippers marks the start of a four game home stand, where the Timberwolves are hoping to improve on their disappointing 2-5 record to start the season.
