Report: Clint Capela Agrees to Re-Sign With Houston Rockets

According to reports, the Rockets have agreed to re-sign restricted free agent center Clint Capela to a contract worth $90 million over five years.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news.

Clint Capela finished this past season averaging 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks for the Houston Rockets. A candidate for the Most improved player of the year, Capela took major strides in his progression this year. Having a chance to play with elite playmakers James Harden and Chris Paul, Capela thrived in Houston’s system. Capela solidified himself around the league as one of the leagues best rim protectors and rim-runners. Averaging a career high in blocks and rebounds Capela’s progression has been impressive. His ability to execute the pick and roll perfectly was key for the Rockets run this year. Capela was the recipient many lobs around the rim where he and Harden seemed to have uncanny chemistry.

Looking forward, Capela will be a defensive anchor and a high percentage finisher around the rim in Houston. His ability to protect the rim and defend on the perimeter at times will be in his team’s success. The Rockets will need Capela to be at his best in order to contend for an NBA Championship.

Capela is going into his 5th Season in the league at the age of 24. He has been with  the Rockets since being drafted by them in the first round of the 2014 draft
