When you are a rookie, every game feels like a first in something. For Bronny James, it took 16 games to hit the first three-pointer. But hey, better late than never. It might be the most celebrated three-pointer, but being the son of LeBron James does that.
Bronny James Earns a New Career Milestone
The Los Angeles Lakers smacked the Clippers 122-97. You can say the game was over after the first quarter which the Lakers won 45-29. The Clippers hung out, but in the fourth quarter, it was all over. With the game essentially over, it was time for Lakers rookies to get some playing time. Bronny James got six minutes of garbage time, but he finally got his first NBA three-pointer. Before the game against the Clippers, Bronny was 0-9 from behind the arc and 3-23 in general.
The Lakers led 111-85 with four minutes and 30 seconds left to go, and Bronny was isolated at the top of the key. He didn’t hesitate and finally made a three-point shot. He is getting better as the season goes on. On the flip side, after he made his three-point shot, he missed two free throws.
Bronny Doing Good in the G League
The new NBA G League season began with the Tip-Off tournament running from November 8th through December 22. Following the tip-off, the stats are reset. So far, in the “new” G League season, Bronny has appeared in four games, averaging 21.3 points per game in 33 minutes of action. He is also averaging 5.3 rebounds, five assists, and 2.3 steals per game. In four games, he is 13-32 from behind the arc for 40.6% efficiency.
Those stats are much better than Bronny’s stats during the Tip-Off tournament, in which he averaged 13.4 points on 37-99 shooting (37.4 percent) from the floor and 7-33 (21.2 percent) from behind the arc. He appeared in seven games during the Tip-Off tournament. His best game in the G-League remains the January 25th matchup against the Rip City Remix, in 35 minutes, he went 5-11 from behind the arc for 31 points.
Bronny James will have to hone his skills and continue improving during his time in the G League. But every game in the NBA is a new milestone for him. So far, he is handling the pressure of being the son of an all-time great.
Bronny Handles Fan Pressure
In the against the Clippers, Bronny was going back and forth with a fan. He was sitting next to Luka Doncic, and the two laughed at the situation. In any case, Bronny seems to be making friends with the new franchise star in Los Angeles. It was not the first time fans have been trolling Bronny.
His coach has previously talked about how Bronny is handling the situation juggling between the G League and the NBA great. For example, LeBron’s son played against the Oklahoma City Blue while the Lakers were in Houston for their road game. He had a poor showing, scoring 16 points on 5-17 shooting. But the alarming part is he had six turnovers, something he must clean up before becoming a regular NBA player.
The Lakers will have to make a choice for the game this Thursday. They play the Warriors at home, but at the same time, the South Bay Lakers play against the Valley Suns. Bronny can only make it to one game.
