Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

While the Knicks' Summer League slate is valuable for every player that steps onto the court, it takes on an even more significant role for one.

Knicks’ Summer League Series Could Make or Break One Player

Every NBA Summer League begins with the same thing: a fresh opportunity for young players to show they belong. For the players on the New York Knicks’ Summer League roster, it brings the opportunity to land a permanent slot on a championship-winning roster for the 2026-27 season, if they play their cards right and make their shots.

The Knicks released their 2026 NBA Summer League roster in early July, and it’s brimming with talent. From total newbies out of college to a few more seasoned players — or as seasoned as you can be in the Summer League — every game features a handful of players worth watching.

While the summer series means a lot to every single player that steps on the court, it takes on an even more significant role for one.

Knicks Forward Pacôme Dadiet Has the Most to Prove

Knicks forward Pacôme Dadiet is a strong talent on the court, and he’ll get a chance to show his stuff over the next couple of weeks. Looking at the full roster, he’s really the player that has the most to prove.

The Knicks selected Dadiet in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. As with any first-round pick, there are expectations. With his third season in New York about to begin, the pressure is on to show real growth. That’s just the deal. If the Knicks are going to depend on him to play in real NBA games, they have to see that they can trust him.

Dadiet has been with the Knicks for two seasons, but he has yet to really prove that his game is consistent enough to be slotted into the regular rotation. This is his chance to show that he’s got what the Knicks need. The physical tools have never been the question. At 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds, Dadiet looks the part. Now he has to play it.

So, how does he do it? Dadiet has to show more consistency, especially as he battles for minutes this summer with players like Mohamed Diawara and Jaden Akins. A strong showing means knocking down shots, defending with more strength and proving he can make winning plays. Scoring wouldn’t hurt, either. The talent is there, but now the Knicks need to see it translate. Dadiet can separate himself by playing with more confidence and making quicker decisions with the ball.

Knicks Summer League Roster and Schedule

Dadiet is among the headliners on the Knicks’ Summer League roster. Another big name to watch is Diawara, who’s fresh off signing a four-year, $10 million contract. Those two will be joined by the Knicks’ additions from the NBA Draft, including Akins — a former Michigan State star who could be a real standout — as well as Tyler NickelOziyah Sellers, Liam Robbins, Erik Reynolds II and Lance Ware. The games will also feature a bevy of prospects and hopefuls from across the spectrum.

The team’s 2026 Las Vegas Summer League schedule features four preliminary games starting on Friday, July 10. New York will face the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday (July 11), the Detroit Pistons next Monday (July 13) and the Golden State Warriors next Thursday (July 16). Then, the Summer League playoffs kick in, with semifinals on July 18 and the championship game scheduled for July 19. The Knicks will be led by assistant coach T.J. Saint.

It really seems like the season just ended for New York, because that’s how it rolls when you win the NBA Finals. But fans aren’t complaining.
