The departure of Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat is all but officially confirmed. Various insiders have already made this prediction, and the front office is not being shy about possibly moving him this summer. Herro’s limited presence on the court — only 33 games due to injuries — truly shook up the team’s structure.
During their most challenging season, the Heat had a hard time maintaining their rotation, pick-and-roll distribution, perimeter scoring, and other duties Herro was responsible for. His future in Miami is still a gamble, as they haven’t extended his $120 million contract. Meanwhile, there are teams in the league where he could start fresh and reach the zenith of his potential.
Tyler Herro Trade Rumors: 4 Potential Landing Spots After Miami
This summer, the 2025 All-Star guard will be entering the final year of his contract and, for the shake-up, has some decent options in front of him, with opportunities to redeem himself.
Milwaukee Bucks
It is no secret that Herro is an elemental part of the trade package that Miami is considering in exchange for superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The highly anticipated trade with the Milwaukee Bucks may be on the verge of happening, with Herro heading to the midwest if a deal is finalized.

It is the most viable option at the moment, which would benefit all the parties involved, especially for the player who is a Milwaukee native. And recently, Herro added fuel to the fire to this speculated move with his latest Instagram post, where his brother responded in the comments with the GIF of a buck, teasing a potential transfer.
Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are another suitable option for Herro. They already have Cade Cunningham playing a key role but need someone to deliver secondary scoring without breaking down. Herro is an elite shot creator and, along with Cunningham, could cover that territory. Putting them together secures the Pistons’ backcourt.
While the Heat struggled remarkably on defense, the Pistons have done well on that end of the floor. Herro would only add to that; plus, he has shown that pairing him with a suitable partner could deliver good results, as seen with Bam Adebayo.
Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic perhaps require Herro’s skills the most, where he could execute them effectively and enhance them. The Magic have struggled mightily with their offense, with a rating that ranked 18th in the regular season.
With Herro taking charge, he can seriously help with playmaking, stretching the defense, and creating passing opportunities. He could also jumpstart his own offense, enable scoring for other players, and shoulder the load of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
Minnesota Timberwolves
In his mock proposal for Bleacher Report, journalist Greg Swartz ranked the Minnesota Timberwolves as the top spot for Herro. His deal sent Herro and the 41st pick to Minnesota in exchange for Julius Randle and the 28th pick.
According to Swartz, Herro is an upgrade over Donte DiVincenzo, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon and is three years younger than him. Not only could Herro be a substitute for the backcourt rotation — being a high-efficiency shooter — but he could also maintain floor spacing alongside Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and others.
Tyler Herro Needs to Improve
Despite his fall, Herro is an elite, skilled offensive player and at 26 still has a lot to offer these teams. His shooting and playmaking make him a threat to opponents and a valuable addition for his own team.
Wherever he goes, it is crucial that he unlocks his potential to survive in the NBA. He showed limited flashes of it this season, but diehard fans continue to trust that Herro can overcome his obstacles and revive his career.
