Areas Of Excellence

Length And Athleticism

The most obvious positive trait that Wilson possesses are his physical tools. Standing at 6-foot-9, he has great size and length for his position. He’s also an extremely mobile forward who can fly all around with ease. This provides him the ability to make highlight plays on both ends of the court. On defense, he is capable of flying high to swat shots or grab rebounds. As for offense, Wilson can stampede his way into the paint for thunderous dunks.

Strong Defensive & Rebounding Presence

Wilson’s clear calling card as a player currently is his defensive ability. He has the versatility to defend multiple positions and be switchable out on the court. He uses his length particularly well as a weakside shot blocker and as a disruptor in passing lanes. In fact, he averaged 3.5 blocks and 2.1 steals per game as a high school senior, demonstrating his defensive playmaking skills. A strong rebounder, he also averaged 11.1 rebounds in his senior year. While he can be susceptible to ball-watching and the occasional blow-by, his overall defensive capabilities and potential are top-notch.

Impressive Offensive Flashes

To be sure, Wilson is at his best on defense but he’s flashed plenty on the other end. He’s immensely talented at slashing to the rim in a variety of ways. Whether it be on-ball or off-ball, in transition or in the halfcourt, he can get to the rim and finish. He certainly has enough of a handle on the ball to attack closeouts and push the pace in transition. Wilson’s also shown shooting potential with his midrange and 3-point touch.

Solid Passing Instincts

Wilson has solid playmaking skills and has good vision, which is only bolstered by his size. He can hit open teammates when the opportunity shows itself, and he has the confidence to make some pretty impressive passes for someone of his age and role. At Holy Innocents, Wilson averaged 5 assists to 3.7 turnovers per game. As he continues to develop his handle and offensive game, he can fully maximize his passing abilities.
