Luka Doncic Brings Serbian Music To Hollywood

Luka Doncic is one of the brightest young basketball stars. Hollywood is the most glamorous place in the United States. The two were made for each other, but Doncic’s music taste may not be best suited for Los Angeles’ shiny lights. Nevertheless, the Lakers will gladly fulfill his music wishes as long as he is producing on the court. It happened right away, before his long-awaited Lakers debut.

Luka Doncic Brings Serbian Music To Hollywood

Throughout the evening, the Lakers went out of their way to give Doncic the superstar treatment. After Doncic’s first game with the Lakers, it is clear he is the next face of the franchise for years to come. From Serbian music during warmups to his introduction spot, Doncic got everything and more.

Before Doncic’s Lakers debut, fans at the Crypto.com arena could hear authentic Serbian folk music playing in the arena. When Doncic is warming up, he wants to hear music from the region he is from. Doncic is Slovenian, but Serbian folk music is popular all over the Balkans. Nikola Jokic, another popular Balkan player, also loves playing Serbian music when possible.

Doncic appreciates good Serbian music, and it seems like the folks in Los Angeles know how to pick it. Fans at the Crypto.com arena were listening to Ana Bekuta – Imam Jedan Zivot (translated to I Have only One Life to Live), a beautiful love song from one of the most popular Serbian singers.

Luka, the Serbian Music Ambassador

Doncic tries to promote Serbian music whenever possible. During his Mavericks days, his teammates always talked about how Serbian folk music was his go-to choice during practices. The Mavs tried to make him as comfortable as possible.

We also have to remember Luka’s commercial for Jordan brand. The last time Doncic filmed a commercial for Jordan Brand, the song in the video was another Serbian classic, Miki Milan’s by Vera Matovic.

He and Jokic are two of the best players in the league, and they both love to promote Serbian music to the rest of America.

Luka Doncic’s Lakers Debut

On Monday night, Lakers fans finally got to see Doncic’s debut in a Lakers jersey. After warming up to some Serbian music, Luka scored 14 points in limited playing time (only 24 minutes of action). He joined their starting lineup alongside LeBron James. The two built some chemistry, and one of Doncic’s passes was a full-court to an open James for a layup.

The Slovenian superstar’s first bucket was a three-pointer in the opening minutes. He finished with four assists and five rebounds.

After the game, Lakers coach JJ Redick talked about how the team is eager to see what Doncic can do in a Lakers uniform. He said,

“Excitement level is high. I don’t think anything in our approach or game plan for Utah changes. It is always a challenge in-season to integrate, and we have to be able to give each other patience for that.”

Even LeBron wore a #77 shirt during warmup to make sure Doncic feels welcomed. The Slovenian got multiple standing ovations from the crowd, with thousands of them wearing the No.77 Lakers jersey.
