Best NBA Bets For April 9, 2024

Mavericks @ Hornets

Over 221.5 (-110)

The Dallas Mavericks travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets. In the second and final game of their inter-conference season series. The previous game ended in a six-point win for the Mavs.

The Mavericks have rounded into form just as the playoffs are about to start. Luka Doncic has been getting triple-doubles for fun and setting records in the process. Kyrie Irving has been incredibly efficient while dropping huge scoring games.

The Hornets have been a middling team for years despite an impressive array of high-lottery prospects. That could be coming to an end with a change of ownership last year, front office changes, and the stepping down of Steve Clifford.

The Mavs are currently fifth in the West. They are two games off the fourth seed and home advantage in the first round of the playoffs. It seems set in stone that the Mavs and Clippers will face each other in the first round.

The Mavericks have Dereck Lively II sidelined. Maxi Kleber and Josh Green will be game-time decisions. The Hornets have the same quartet out of injury and no new injury concerns.

The Mavericks will be confident heading into this tie as they are in rich veins of form. They have won seven of their previous eight.

The Mavericks have been scoring points with ease all season. Over the last two months, that run has continued. They have scored at least 107 points in 29 of their previous 30 games.

The Hornets have also been a reliable offense in recent weeks despite all the injuries they have dealt with. At home, they have scored at least 118 points in four of their previous seven games.

In this bet, we’re backing the over as we have a Mavs team that can score in bunches and a Hornets team that has a ball-movement-heavy offense that seems to explode at home.

Heat @ Hawks

Over 220.0 (-110)

The Atlanta Hawks welcome the Miami Heat to the State Farm Arena. This will be the final meeting of the season between both sides. The Hawks won the most recent encounter in Miami by one point.

The Heat and Hawks are eighth and tenth in the East respectively. Neither team is in danger of slipping out of their current positions. Both teams are just one game back of the team ahead of them so both teams know that wins here will give them home advantage for their respective play-in games. So expect to see both teams highly motivated for this contest.

The Hawks’ Trae Young, Saddiq Bey, and Onyeka Okongwu remain out. For the Heat, Bam Adebayo, Terry Rozier, and Nikola Jovic are game-time decisions.

The Hawks have been a prolific offense all year, even with the extended absence of Trae Young. They are 10th in offensive efficiency in the NBA and fifth in points per game (118.7).

Over the last two months at home, they have scored less than 109 points just once. That is in a 20-game run. Quin Snyder has always been an offense savant, which has translated to this team.

The Heat have been scoring points at a good rate over their last couple of games on the road. They have scored at least 107 points in all four of their recent road games.

Also helping the over is the fact that the Hawks are top five in the NBA in pace. So expect a fast-paced shoot-out. Furthermore, this number would have hit in two of their three meetings this season.

In this NBA bet, we are backing the over because there are too many elite shot-makers on both teams.

Pacers @ Raptors

Over 238.0 (-110)

The Indiana Pacers travel to Toronto to take on the Raptors in the final game of the season series. The previous game ended in an eight-point win for the Raptors at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Pacers are pretty much set to avoid the play-in tournament, barring any late-season slide. Mathematically, they could still get home advantage for their first-round matchup if they get favorable results elsewhere so expect to see them competitive for this game.

The Raptors are in their first rebuild for the better part of a decade. They have been impressive this year after the Pascal Siakam trade. They are figuring out their core around Scottie Barnes moving forward.

The Raptors continue to deal with the absences of Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, and Immanuel Quickley. They have Gradey Dick as a game-time decision. The Pacers have only Bennedict Mathurin listed as out for this game.

The Raptors have been scoring points with ease over the past three games at home. They have scored at least 111 points in each game during that run. Their last four games have seen at least 239 points scored in each of them.

The Pacers have scored at least 121 points in six of their previous nine on the road.

Both teams over the last 10 games are top-five in pace in the NBA. During this stretch, the Pacers are averaging the most points (121.8) in the NBA.

In this bet, back the over.
