NBA Picks January 22nd

Hello Last Word On Hoops Fans, I’m new here. I plan on posting at least three NBA or college hoops picks every day for you to follow along with, take for yourself, or fade me. I plan to give the reasoning for the pick, a stat or two that may back me up, and the units I would put on the pick.

January 22nd NBA Picks

San Antonio Spurs @ New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson OVER 14.5 POINTS (-102)

The moment that many basketball fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Zion Williamson, the number one pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, is finally making his first appearance after missing the first half of the season due to an injured meniscus in his right knee. We all have been waiting rather impatiently to see the Duke product on the floor for the New Orleans Pelicans and we finally get our wish tonight. I will be putting a few units down on this point total due mainly in part to the excitement I have surrounding Williamson’s first game.

The play: Two Units to win 1.96 Units

Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors: 76ers +6.5 (-110)

Did you know the Philadelphia 76ers have the worst road record among current teams above .500? The 76ers are currently 9-14 on the road this season. You would assume that would work in the Toronto Raptors favor, but I am not sure that is the case tonight. Philadelphia has actually looked as good, or better, with Joel Embiid sidelined by a ligament injury in his finger. It has opened up more space for Ben Simmons to attack the basket and I think we see another good performance from him tonight north of the border. Philadelphia is also riding a four-game win streak into tonight’s contest.

The play: One Unit to win .91 Units

Indiana Pacers @ Phoenix Suns: Suns Moneyline (+102)

This is purely a gut pick. You always want to find a good value pick and I think the Phoenix Suns at home tonight, with the Indiana Pacers coming off a downright ugly performance in Utah, are that value. The Suns, at times, have played much better than their record would indicate. They have a good opportunity tonight to get another win under their belt, which will be critical for this group.

The play: One Unit to win 1.02 Units

PARLAY OF THE DAY: 76ers +6.5, Spurs +3.5, and Suns Moneyline (+636)

YEAR TO DATE: 0-0-0
