After much speculation, a deal is finally done. First-overall pick Zion Williamson signed a shoe deal with Jordan Brand Tuesday afternoon. He joins the likes of Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Jimmy Butler, and more NBA stars as a Jordan Brand athlete.

Even before the now infamous shoe blowout at Duke, speculation swirled around Williamson as to where he would sign a shoe deal. Now that the dust has officially settled, Williamson has found himself the newest member of Jordan Brand.

“I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family,” Williamson said in an official statement. “Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can’t express how happy and excited I am for this journey.”

The amount and other details of the deal have yet to be released, but Williamson will undoubtedly receive a pretty penny from the shoe giant. It was long speculated that the potential star would sign a deal with Nike, but he ultimately went in a different direction.

Of course, any welcome to the Jordan Brand team would feel empty without a statement from the Jumpman himself. Perhaps the greatest to ever play the game, Michael Jordan released a statement on his newest business partner.

“(Williamson’s) incredible determination, character and play are inspiring. He’s an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future,” Jordan said. “He told us he would ‘shock the world,’ and asked us to believe him. We do.”

The future seems bright for the New Orleans Pelicans star. If his on-court talent can match his off-the-floor hype, he will surely live up to his new shoe deal.
