Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical has reported that Grizzlies guard Mike Conley will be out indefinitely after suffering a fracture in his vertebrae. He is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks.

Mike Conley Out Indefinitely With Fractured Vertebrae

Once again, we see the injury bug hit Conley. Just when he comes back from another injury, he gets injured once again. When healthy, he is easily one of the better point guards in the association. Conley signed a 5 year, $153 million extension with the Grizzlies in the offseason, which is the biggest contract ever. He is currently averaging 19.2 PPG, 5.7 APG, and 3.6 RPG.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Grizzlies ultimately decide to go in. Expect to see Andrew Harrison be moved to the starting point guard spot. Two of their starting five are now both sidelined with injury, with Chandler Parsons being the other injured. There is so much that Conley does for the Grizzlies; he leads the team in points, assists, and three-point percentage. That alone shows how valuable he is to the success of the Grizzlies.

Injuries have been the story of the Grizzlies the past few seasons. Not only has Conley been dealing with injuries the past few seasons, but so has Marc Gasol. He will now have more of a load on the offensive end. Everyone knows how good this Grizzlies team can be. But at the same time, everyone knows that injuries could possibly get in the way of them reaching their full potential. The Grizzlies are currently sitting as the 5th seed in the Western Conference with a 11-7 record.
