Less than a week after voting Josh Wise into the Sprint Cup All Star Race, DogeCoin and Reddit users attempt to win another award for Wise- NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver.
The award has been held for 11 straight years by Dale Earnhardt Jr. who beat out Bill Elliot in 2003 to win it for the first team. The rest of the drivers on the ballot are all relatively big names.
All of the previous recipients of the award have more than five wins or more and some have even been voted into the Hall of Fame; meanwhile Wise is still looking for the first Top Ten finish of his career.
A list of previous winners that includes names like Richard Petty, and Dale Earnhardt, could very well include Josh Wise when the votes are announced in November.
For now we’ll stick with the Fan Vote win; Wise took a 15th place finish earning $80,000 and impressing the NASCAR community.
Sticking towards the back of the pack, avoiding a major caution, Wise played it safe during the All-Star Race. However, that’s just something you have to do when on a small team like he is with Phil Parsons Racing.
After the race, Wise kept gaining approval from fans who were impressed enough to help DogeCoin and PPR to raise $5,000 dollars to sponsor Wise again at the fall Talladega race.
This has also given Wise extra exposure with other companies as he will be racing in the Nationwide race this week under the ownership of Curtis Key. He will also plan to run unsponsored with the #98 in the cup series as usual.
