On the 31st May 2014, Saracens will battle Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership Final. It is a match that is sure to be both physical and entertaining, and will have an air of intensity that should provide regular and fringe fans with a superb contest.
Saracens have been dominating the Premiership for a long while. They enter the contest after the semi-final win against Harlequins. This match was an intense match itself, and the scores went backwards and forwards for both teams throughout the 80 minutes. Saracens won this by 31 points to 17, pulling away in the second half. They have certainly earned their spot in the final.
Northampton Saints are in the final after their semi-final with Leister Tigers. They won by a mere point and with a man down. They became a man down because of a fight that broke out during the match between Tom Youngs and Salesi Maafu. Youngs was given a yellow card for infuriating him, but Maafu was given a red card due to a vicious punch to the face of Tom Youngs.
The final will be held at the famous ground, the home to England Rugby, Twickenham. As Saracens are at the top of the table, they will get the home dressing room and they can wear their home kit of red and black loops.
Will Owen Farrell, Mako Vunipola, Billy Vunipola, Alex Goode and the rest of the England international players for Saracens have impacting performances? Will both teams be on top form for the final? Will Chris Ashton be the one to watch for the Saints or will it be Owen Farrell’s ability of reading the game play and noticing holes in the Saints defence at the try line?
Each team will be studying their opponent’s line outs and defensive tactics closely. This is a definite one to watch. It will be full of action and hopefully not too many injuries.
Only time will reveal this year’s Aviva premiership champion.
