This week’s edition of Follow The Tweeters is in! Did you become a member of the Yes Movement? Were you saying Boo or Boo-tista? Did the hair on the back of your neck stand when the Phenom returned to Raw? How about Hulkamania running wild all over the WWE once again? Here were your tweets of this past week!
Let us start with Monday Night Raw.
The Fans Podcast @TheFansPodcast
If Del Rio really wanted to break Batista’s arm he should of brought the bags of Batista’s Hate Mail and drop on him. #Raw
It’s amazing to me how badly the WWE management team mis-judged Batista’s return to the company. They gave him the Royal Rumble victory and main event to Wrestlemania and expected him to be received by the general audience like a Rock-type figure. That’s the problem though; Batista is not The Rock. Batista is not even a fraction the star that Rock is. To add to this problem, his return could not have come at a worse time. Daniel Bryan is the most over guy in the company and to not have him in the main event is one giant mistake.
The Steel Cage @thesteelcage
Cringed a bit when Cesaro actually dropped Big E a bit there, almost right on his neck. Yikes. #RAW
It was scary the way Big E landed, but the mistake is on him. Cesaro performed the lift and drop like he always does. It was Big E that hesitated at the last moment and chicken-legged the descent, causing his body to shift at the wrong moment, resulting in the poor landing. In the ring, any moment you hesitate, you put yourself and your opponent at risk of injury.
The Wrestling Mania @WrestlingMANIAx
John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania is gonna be a show stealer, calling it now.
I have to agree. I fear that with the Cena injury, legit or not, they will build up the story of Cena overcoming the odds, despite a knee injury but I still think this match is going to be great. If they can be given fifteen minutes, they can tell a story and Bray Wyatt can work his magic of stalking his prey and slowly dismantling Cena. Plus, if we see another creepy crab-walk, it’ll make my night.
craig hermit @craighermit
cena had 10+ years to show the wrestling world that he can sell, tonight he decided to show it so much we think he’s really injured #RAW
It was a weird landing when he was taken down to the mat. If you look at slow-motion replays, you can see an awkward fall that would usually cause a tweaked knee. To this day, I am still not sure if he is injured or playing a part but good on him if this is a storyline. The way it all went down, from trainers being called over to Bray backing off both Rowan and Harper, the whole segment was an X-warning away from me fully believing Cena was hurt bad.
Dameon Nelson @DameonNelson
Can they just once not go to commercial when the action spills outside the ring? #RAW
Remember back in the day, this rarely happened? Then in the early 2000s, it happened once – maybe twice – in a two hour show. Not it’s just about every match, save for squashes and Divas matches that don’t see anything north of five minutes. It’s aggravating at times, especially when you realize this is a big ploy to get the fans to download the WWE App because, you know, the only way you can watch what happens during a commercial break is to download the App and watch it there.
Anyone remember how to download the App?
Fringezilla @Fringezilla
Reigns vs Wyatt would be far more welcome than Orton vs Batista at WMXXX. #RAW #WWE
Wouldn’t it? Both these men have one thing the Orton/Batista match doesn’t; Fan support. The WWE Universe would eat this match up, from start to finish. It would be a scenario where you don’t know who to cheer and who to boo because fans love both these men. It would likely be a case of an entire arena cheering everything and sitting on their hands, waiting to see what happens next.
Anthony @Anthony9994
I bet undertaker returns during Lesnar segment. #RAW #WWE #EatSleepConquerRepeat
Anthony made this bet while Brock Lesnar was in the ring with Paul Heyman and then…
Anthony @Anthony9994
Too predictable #WWE #RAW
Anthony was right. The Undertaker returned to confront Brock Lesnar and it seems like the match between the two will indeed happen at Wrestlemania. I did predict that Brock Lesnar was one of my five options in an earlier piece — actually, he was number one on that list — and I’m pretty amped to see this happen. Both men do fantastic work telling a story and teasing the fans with false finishes, be it a VERY long two count or a submission that looks like they are getting tortured.
To end the Raw portion of this week’s Follow The Tweeters,
John Stevens @JohnStevensLOL
#RAW was great.
#WWE #RAW
Indeed, it was. Hulk Hogan returning to start the show, prancing out to the ring to thunderous cheers and “Real American” blaring on the PA system was a fabulous way to start Raw. Then you had returns by The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar in the last segment of the night, while in between fans were treated to many great and not-so-great matches and segments. The overall feel was magical though and a great way to kick off the road to this year’s Wrestlemania.
You then tuned into Smackdown on Friday night and had this to say!
Chelsea @chelseaxperdue
Every time Batista wears skinnies, a fairy dies. HELP SAVE FAIRIES. #SmackDown
I don’t know who is Batista’s fashion consultant but fire them immediately. I don’t want to see a big man wearing skinny jeans nor do I want to see him wearing a fancy little hat. It’s almost as bad as his pink polo shirts five years ago. His leather and jeans look towards the end of his last run is where they should be going, especially if they want to make him a heel and embrace the heat. Until then, we’ll continue to see Dave “Caddy Shack” Batista.
Then again, we are talking about a man with a Firebird-style tattoo on his back and a cute little sun tattoo around his belly button. Oh, and that adorable nose stud.
Ojel (O.J.) @ojelrodriguez
Batista as heel would be a nice rivalry for Daniel Bryan #dealwithit #smackdown
The WWE would have a story already written with this kind of match. Daniel Bryan is already in the mix with battling the Authority for any chance at a main event spot and a match against Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. If the WWE played their cards right, they would have started a plot at the beginning of this year, or even late last year, where all the obstacles the Authority threw at Bryan, he conquered. Fast forward to Batista’s return, his presence would not be a “I’m coming for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship” situation but rather a “I’m back to do Hunter’s dirty work and take out Bryan because only I can accomplish such a thing.” That way, you have a legitimate heel in Batista, a story for Bryan that is outside of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture since that’s what the WWE seems to want and a possibility at a very good match for Wrestlemania.
Da’Shay @Dashay_Brown
EWWW Batista spits too much Yuck #SmackDown
One too many Batista-related tweets? I know, I know but this one deserves a spot because it made me chuckle for a few moments. He gets so into his own promos that when he raises his voice, he loses the ability to hold back his saliva. It flies all over the place, some even landing on the microphone at times. It really is disgusting but at the same time, it’s quite comical.
WrestleMan @WrestleManSays
#Smackdown @HEELZiggler challenged Batista to a match tonight. Batista accepts & then eats the best dropkick in the @WWE
This was one of the highlights for me, personally. That dropkick is definitely among the best in the company, likely rivaled by Randy Orton’s, and the way it was performed was a bonus. It’s a shame to see the WWE wasting such a young, talented talent. And for what, in the end? He speaks out too much?
The Unpredictable @Zargon7
I wanna see Cesaro swing Mark Henry around. #SmackDown
There is a long list of people I want Cesaro to swing; Big Show, Undertaker, Kane… and maybe a couple of people in my personal life.
Natalie . ♥ @LadyVipress
I feel like people are just now catching on to how good Cesaro is. He’s BEEN badass. #Smackdown
His awesomeness was shielded by a sub-par gimmick upon his arrival to the WWE. We’ve seen the patriotic heel from a country that isn’t the United States. Stretched out long enough, fans will become bored of it, which they did in Cesaro’s case. In ironic fashion, they switched it up and made him a Patriotic USA heel and the fans now have taken full notice. Of course, there is also a big difference between defending the US Championship against the likes of Kofi Kingston and going one on one with John Cena in a barn-burner of a match.
Elevated competition, a more desirable character and more time to strut his stuff is exactly what Cesaro needed to further elevate his position in the company.
Saif @SaifQuadri
oh God, I thought we’d never have to see Sheamus-ADR again #Smackdown
Here is something that I don’t understand, and I know I am in the minority when I say this; I like both Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. The problem with Sheamus is that he is a bland face. He is simply more effective as a heel that doesn’t talk, just boots people’s heads off, pumps his chest and yells. That’s when he was at his peak. As for Del Rio, I am one of his (seemingly) few fans. He is talented in the ring at many styles, such as the technical side, the submission side and even going up top for a high-risk move. Again, for these two men it’s another case of good wrestler, poor direction of character.
jbizzle @wtfpaigey
Yeah, you think the car jacking is funny now but in 2012 you bitched about it for months. I see you, Cole.
#Smackdown
First thing to pop into my mind was this. The various Tout videos of Sheamus, laughing as he strolled around town and treating the car the way some people treat a toilet bowl after taco night and then the constant whining of Cole, protesting the idea of grand theft auto being a laughable cause.
Sort of like the whole Daniel Bryan thing, how he used to be a “nerd” and a “loser” but now Cole defends him every time JBL makes those statements.
Steven Colomer @StevenColomer
@Christian4Peeps “I wanna be the wwe champion” … @MichaelCole “then you have to start winning matches” #owned #wwe #SmackDown
This one hit home hard. You know you have it tough when even the announce team is burying you.
Eve on Wrestling @WrestlingOps
I have a soft spot for “heel” @Christian4Peeps. #SmackDown
I have a soft spot for “any” Christian. He’s one of the most underrated workers in the WWE right now and never seems to get his chance, or his “one more match.” What amazes me even more is the neglect he faces by the WWE Universe. It’s as though nobody cares about him, and that may be a result of him losing all the time and the outcome of his matches being too predictable.
Brittney @BrittneyyRyderr
Lana’s voice annoys me and I still don’t like Alexander Rusev #Smackdown
Once again, the WWE goes about this the wrong way. He debuted at the Royal Rumble. Fantastic. That should have been followed by him showing up on a Smackdown taping, unannounced, and destroying two wrestlers who were in the middle of the match. Nothing impresses a crowd more when you’re the new guy than brute force. Instead, we got boring vignettes in a language not many can decipher and a mouth-piece that nobody cares about, with the exception of a certain male demographic that can’t stop fawning over her.
Wolfe_B!+CH @Wolfe_BOO
Will we ever get to find out where The Wyatts took Dean? Or atleast what happened to him? #SmackDown
I think this may be the perfect plot for Dean Ambrose turning on Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Stay quiet for the weeks to come and make the big reveal after dismantling them via sneak attack. Imagine this goes down on the grandest stage of them all? You’d have a star in the making. You’d have THREE stars in the making, actually. In a way, you already do have that.
MIKE DUKE @mikepiyp
Seriously are Naomi and Cameron the only diva’s left to challenge AJ? @WWE #SmackDown I don’t want to see that again!
Natalya, Tamina Snuka… Emma… Paige? The WWE has wasted so many women wrestlers, Beth Phoenix, Eve Torres, Kaitlyn (she was improving drastically), just to name a few. I don’t understand the direction of the WWE when it concerns the Divas division. Tamina Snuka is playing bodyguard instead of wrestling, Natalya is still trying to live down her flatulence gimmick and Emma was called up to the main roster to dance… Yes, dance. DANCE! Just you wait. If Summer Rae, Emma and Paige once she is called up can all do what they have done in NXT, the Divas division will drastically improve.
Adoring WWE ❤ @FUTUREWWEDIVA18
Damn Cameron stop screaming. #Smackdown
Remember when we thought Melina was annoying? I remember this one match when Melina faced Alicia Fox. I’m sure Cameron remembers that one quite well.
-LLG- @LoveLostGunfire
Apparently AJ Lee is defending her Divas title against a goddamn pterodactyl tonight #Smackdown
This week’s ZING! Tweet of the week!
Koda Blakwulf @kodablakwulf
Soooo is no one going to bring up how @TheShieldWWE took out #Undertaker after past year’s #WM? Alright. #SmackDown
I sincerely doubt this will ever be brought up, which is unfortunate. That moment was a defining one for all three members of the Shield and one that set their careers moving forward. On the other hand, is it really a wise thing to bring up The Undertaker being beat down by three relatively new guys in the WWE just a few weeks shy of his Wrestlemania match against someone like Brock Lesnar?
Wrestling House Show @houseshow
I have to say, I think I preferred the commentary on #NXTArRIVAL last night to JBL and Cole. They’re basically parodies now. #WWE #Smackdown
I wondered if someone would bring up a comparison between the show and NXT’s PPV. Unfortunately for all of us, I think we got more bang for our (imaginary) buck with NXT’s show than we will with Wrestlemania this year. Just a hunch.
Kyle Sheridan @KyLe_711
Daniel Bryan needs to be champ! Screw Orton and Batista. #YESMovement #SmackDown
In a perfect world, this would have happened months ago.
