Another week without CM Punk, another week of 75% of the #Raw and #Smackdown tweets containing his name; Welcome to this week’s installment of Follow The Tweeters, the series where YOUR tweets get featured and I respond to them, either with intelligence, sarcasm or none of the above! Here are this week’s tweets, starting with Monday Night Raw!
Stephane Bruyere @Alchi091
Can’t wait for Cena-Orton again! Can go to bed half an hour earlier! #RAW
I get it. We’ve seen it before. We’ve seen it HUNDREDS of times. Back in 2009, I attended Breaking Point (with floor seats, thank you very much) and witnessed a pretty brutal match between the two, for the WWE Championship. While this match is redundant and their history of “breaking out at the same time and having very similar careers” is a tired act, John Cena and Randy Orton can still put on a match worthy of viewing. And hey, the match was on Raw… for free.
Ryan93 @RyanBITW1993
Already CM Punk chants let them hear ya Los Angeles! #RAW
I will never get tired of this. Even though Punk walked out on the WWE and most would usually criticize the wrestler and not the company, the fans have done their homework and know who to point the finger at. The WWE Universe is as equally frustrated as CM Punk himself is and you have to wonder how long the WWE plans to wait this one out. I’m not saying they should give Punk EVERYTHING he wants, but at least give him something meaningful and not waste his talents on a silly feud with Kane.
Oh, and Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole and JBL should really zip it. Bashing the fans for chanting a wrestler and then mocking them for a lack of enthusiasm? That’s pretty low.
Mathew Zaller @MizfitMathew
Randy Orton’s cutting a promo. Well, atleast we still get the GTS on #Raw. @wwe
I award this tweet with this week’s “ZING! tweet of the week” Congrats, Matthew!
Noah Antwiler @TheSpoonyOne
I will pay $10,000 to see Randy Orton RKO Betty White. #Raw
I’m sure she would pay $10,000 just to have that spot with Orton. It’s a PG-world though, so you can count out elderly ladies taking powerbombs off the top rope through tables or eating RKOs (OUTTA NOWHERE!).
MizTv @thetalboski
#raw
#TheMiz has every right to be mad right now
I agree! A dance competition last week, a continuation of a pathetic feud between two guys who are jobber-level, all for the sake of… introducing Emma?
Edward Duarte @EJDraks
Happy Betty White got a pop. Was afraid she’d get booed. #BettysAwesome #Raw
Who in their right mind would boo Betty White? Well, I have two examples. Someone who doesn’t know who Betty White is, or someone who lacks a soul. Betty White is a legend, no matter what stage she graces.
The Midnight Society @JonGreene14
Loved Cesaro’s perofmance #Realtalent Great match #RAW more evidence of the need to replace old talent with new. …now please @TripleH
I have quite a few names that I would like to see get pushed instead of watching the likes of Kevin Nash returning and taking up a spot in the Royal Rumble, or watching the Road Dogg and Receding Hairline Billy Gunn as the Tag Team Champions. Just to name a few, along with Cesaro; Damien Sandow, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and Wade Barrett. Let’s see… jobbing, borderline jobbing, doing nothing and… giving people some bad news. Way to waste what little talent you actually have on your roster.
The Wyatt Family @WWEAussieViper
Paul Bearer is my pick for next inductee #Raw
Mine too. He and Macho Man Randy Savage deserve to be there, and not just because they are deceased. When you think of the Undertaker, his name goes hand-in-hand with Paul Bearer, the evil, twisted and bizarre manager that wielded the urn containing The Undertaker’s power. The man that brought Undertaker’s brother to the WWE to torture Undertaker. That man that once went by the name of Percy Pringle.
And when you think Macho Man, how can you not let out an “Ooooooooooh YEEEEEAH!” The flying elbow drop of the top rope has been endlessly imitated but never matched.
WWE Retweeting @WWERetweeting
Lita Announced for WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2014- http://wp.me/p4cbVd-6D RT this! #WWERetweeting #WWE #RAW
I get the nomination and all but… I may be in the minority when I say I don’t like it. I have never been a Lita fan and disliked the controversy she created with the whole Edge-Matt Hardy issue. While I won’t ignore her work over the years and her in-ring ability, I also won’t ignore the fact that her best years came at a time where her only legitimate competition was Trish Stratus and nobody else.

That was a powerful moment right there. I got goosebumps watching The Shield and The Wyatt’s. That will be an EXPLOSIVE match! #RAW
This was my favorite part of the entire show. Both trios built up all the drama and excitement needed for their clash at Elimination Chamber. This is a scenario that was created perfectly. Build up that anticipation to see both these teams dismantle each other, get the crowd pumped up and cheering and then have the teams not lay a hand on each other. It creates more electricity for their match at the PPV when they finally do slug it out. It was set perfectly and now all that is missing is another series of promos or both teams in separate matches where the other team messes with the decision of the encounter, causing more hatred between the two teams.
If Raw didn’t do it for you, Smackdown provided all the wrestling one could hope for and then some. Watching from start to finish, I could tell the tweets would just pour out for the love of a couple of superstars. Here were the best of Friday Night Smackdown!
Javier Morales @TheJavStar1990
I hope soon Christian will be our new WWE Champion #Smackdown
Oh Javier… I actually did that Eric Cartman laugh on this tweet. You know which laugh that is? The one that starts off with a small “heh… heh-heh” and finishes with hysterical laughter? That’s pretty much what I did. Christian’s chances of becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion are as good as… well, mine.
The Wyatt Family @Wyatt_Family
Rybaxel? Possibly the worst tag team name ever in the history of WWE #Smackdown
I do like these two as a tag team but this name indeed needs to go. They’re not a power couple on some soap opera or in Hollywood, they’re a professional wrestling tag team. I’m sure they can do a play on words of the Nexus name, since both of them were once a part of the original Nexus stable.
Marisa Garcia @mngarcia1993
The Shield have been in WWE for about 15 months & they’ve NEVER had a bad match. That’s how good they are! #BelieveInTheShield #SmackDown
That says something. It really does. All three members, whether in tag team or solo competition, have looked incredible.
Foxy @FoxyLUFCBITW
So Eva Marie vs Alicia Fox got edited off #SmackDown because the match was poor and Eva barely couldn’t wrestle apparently!
I’m shocked… SHOCKED!
No, I’m not. Eva Marie is not a wrestler and Alicia Fox has been transitioned from face to heel more times than Kevin Nash has torn a quad, that the fans don’t really care about her. Not that they did to begin with, but even less-so now. It’s like WWE creative sat down and thought about what could possibly be the worst divas match to put on Smackdown. The end result was edited out of Smackdown.
Ryan Frey @Jasonvoorhees54
Pretty good Smackdown last night awesome how they had @WWECesaro beat @RandyOrton #WWE #Smackdown
I expected Randy Orton to continue his string of .500 batting average heading into Elimination Chamber, so I was extremely surprised by Antonio Cesaro going over the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Is it time for Cesaro to be pushed as a legit contender? I think it is. He is just so impressive at all facets of the business; look, charisma, promos, ring work, originality. Everything about him oozes greatness and I’m more than excited to see the WWE finally realizing this.
Maheen.A @Maheen_A21
Am I glad the Rhodes Brothers and The Usos won on #Smackdown! Finally, after the Rhodes kept losing. 🙂
It’s interesting. Heading into the not-so-distant future, we have some legit tag teams challenging the New (Old) Age Outlaws for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Cody and Goldust are back on the winning side, The Usos have probably been the hottest tag team in the past two months, the Wyatts could make a case for themselves and even Rybaxel (ugh, it really IS a terrible name) could get tossed in there. The tag team division took a step back a while ago when the Rhodes Scholars disbanded, but it seems to be back on track right now.
♪FantasticTheGreat♬ @fantastic_great
It’s about time they did a #1 contender match for the IC championship. They need to do the same for the U.S. title #Smackdown
Sigh… they do. Both Dean Ambrose and Big E. Langston deserve competition for their Championships and I don’t mean each other battling it out to become the unified “insert mid-card Championship her” Champion. Keep the two belts separated and build your mid-card division so that in the future, you have a surplus of young guys ready to make the jump, and they have the credentials to back it up as well.
✨HoOligan ❤️✨ @RainQ013
Amazing Fatal-Four way match!, 619s Trouble’s in Paradise, & A Triple SUPLEX! .. Loved it!, & Swagger for the win! #SmackDown
The Trouble in Paradise on Rey Mysterio as he was going for the 619 was probably the most fluid transition I have seen in a long while. Also, the double German suplex (which is what I assume RainQ013 meant by “triple suplex” was just nasty looking (in a good way). In a way, you knew who was walking out as the winner, with three faces and one heel challenging to become number one contender for a Championship held by a face, but the series of false finishes leading up to the end of the match was still fun to wach. As a fan, you couldn’t ask for any more from that match.
Lee Savery @Leegend90
No reaction for Fandango on #Smackdown. WWE failed to capitalise on him. Big shame. It is funny no one reacts to Miz though.
On Fandango; It’s sad, really. They had another brick of gold in the Fandango dance-and-song and creative could have had another “YES!” chant kind of deal on their hands. Their biggest mistake was the way they forced it down everyone’s throats in the following weeks, leading up to it’s death. If there is one thing the WWE doesn’t know, it’s that the some of the biggest reactions/catchphrases of the modern-day era has come as a result of rebellion. The “YES!” chants are, of course, a prime example of that. The year of Punk, with his pipebombs and the way the crowd jumped on his bandwagon is another.
On The Miz; I really hope they do something with him. I’m liking this whole “Look at the crap we see today while a guy like me is forced to sit in the back and watch” kind of deal. It’s sort of what Dolph Ziggler is going through as well, which could be interesting to watch develop as the weeks go by. A possible tag team between Dolph and Miz? If there’s one sickness that fans would love to catch, it would have to be… the Mizzles, right? Oh God, did I just say that?
Josh James @JayJayDoubleYoo
Marks stop kidding yourselves, Cesaro will not be winning the Chamber match. #SmackDown
I’ll end this week’s edition of FTT by quoting a statement made by my old wrestling trainer, on the topic of “smarks”, something I consider a fan that calls out others for being “marks”.
“Smarks are people that think they know about the ins and outs of the business, but really… they don’t know anything.”
And that does it for this week’s edition of FTT — Follow The Tweeters!
