CFL Fantasy Starts for Week 12

Check out our Week 12 CFL Fantasy Starts!

Trevor Harris, Ottawa – $8865

The most accurate quarterback in the league faces the CFL’s worst pass defence on Friday night, as Ottawa hosts the Montreal Alouettes. When these teams met earlier this month, Harris posted 487 passing yards on 44 completions, but only one touchdown. So far in 2018, Trevor Harris has posted a touchdown rate of 4.3%, while his career average of 7%. Against a porous defence, look for Harris to correct that trend while finishing as a sure-fire top three quarterback.

Don Jackson, Calgary – $6424

The Edmonton Eskimos are incredibly accommodating to opposing running backs, allowing startable fantasy weeks in every game of the year. With Don Jackson back from injury, Week 12 will be no exception. Jackson owns one of the best yards per carry averages in the league at 6.3, while all other Stampeders ball carriers average a collective 3.8. Don Jackson is dynamic and electric, and a starter in a high-flying offence. With the Eskimos frequently allowing touchdowns to running backs, Jackson is one of the safest plays of the week.

Alex Green, Hamilton – $7548

Alex Green has fully cemented himself as the feature back in one of the league’s most potent offences. Having now surpassed William Powell for most average carries per game, and 12 total red zone attempts, Alex Green should be viewed as an absolute CFL Fantasy stud. Green even caught three passes for 35 yards last week. Start him until he gives you a reason not to.

Greg Ellingson, Ottawa – $6196

Diontae Spencer and Brad Sinopoli are flashier options, but the numbers point to Greg Ellingson as the best value among Redbacks receivers. Ellingson is second in the league in targets and fifth in slotbacklabs.com’s air yards statistic. Conversely, Montreal allows the most receptions and yards to wide receivers over the past three games. Ellingson’s target volume makes him a sure-fire bet based on his salary. Lastly, across the league, receivers score a touchdown on 6.1% of passes caught. Meanwhile, Ellingson has only scored once, or on 2% of passes, well below his career average of 8.5%. Probability dictates that Ellingson will regress to the mean before season’s end, and a matchup against a defence that has allowed 1.7 touchdowns per game to receivers over the last three could help him do just that.

Luke Tasker, Hamilton – $6798

With Cassius Vaughn injured, Toronto’s already suspect pass defence looks even more vulnerable. On Hamilton’s side, Chris Williams is done for the year, which means there’s one less elite pass catcher to feed. While Jalen Saunders and Brandon Banks have had more volume on average, Luke Tasker has been incredibly efficient. 45% of his yards come after the catch, and Tasker ranks second in RACR efficiency rating among players who have had ten or more targets. Luke Tasker should convert more than enough targets into YAC to be a great start this week in CFL Fantasy.
