The Iowa Barnstormers put on a clinic at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday night, defeating the Cedar Rapids Titans in their final regular season game of the 2018 season.
The victory improved Iowa’s record to 11-3, a league best, and gave the Barnstormers home-field advantage throughout the Indoor Football League playoffs.
That will set up a semi-final game at Wells Fargo Arena where the Barnstormers can host the United Bowl if they come out with a victory.
Iowa Barnstormers earn Home-Field Advantage
The Barnstormers were the first on the board on Saturday night against Cedar Rapids and did not care to look back.
Quarterback Drew Powell ran for three touchdowns on 69 yards and threw for two more, all in the first half.
Both touchdowns were completed to Brady Roland, extending his total to a league best 18 touchdowns on the season.
Another touchdown was added by Jamal Tyler.
After the first half, Iowa lead 40-14, pushing Barnstormers coach Dixie Wooten to play his backup quarterback in Grant Rohach.
Rohach, a former Cyclone, was a fan favorite during his two-game stretch as the starter when Powell was away at a CFL tryout.
Although Rohach largely ran the ball in the second, he helped complete the victory for Iowa, which gives the team a clear road to hosting the championship game in Des Moines, IA.
The Barnstormers will play the Nebraska Danger on Friday, June 22 at Wells Fargo Arena. The winner will play in the championship game.
The victor of the Iowa – Nebraska game will take on the winner of 3 seed Sioux Falls and 2 seed Arizona. That game will be played in Phoenix, AZ next weekend on a date to be determined.
That game, like others this year, will kick off at 7:05 p.m. CT and can be seen on Mediacom, YouTube, and heard on 1040 AM WHO Radio.
