Note to the Diamondbacks: Don't Blame LA, Blame Yourselves

For the past 36 hours, after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the NL West division with their victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, there seems to be an endless stream of moaning and complaining coming out of the desert.  You see, the Diamondbacks and their supporters are not impressed that about half the Dodgers team decided to have an impromptu pool party in the pool found behind the right centre field fence in Arizona’s Chase field.

“I just think they have enough guys on that team that it’s surprising they would allow that to happen,” Diamondbacks infielder Willie Bloomquist said. “I’ll give credit where credit’s due. They won the division, so congratulations to them. I would expect someone to act with a little more class. I highly doubt the New York Yankees would do something like that.”

“I could call it disrespectful and classless,” Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall said via email, “but they don’t have a beautiful pool at their old park and must have really wanted to see what one was like.”

Arizona Senator John McCain, he of the failed presidential bid even got in on the act saying on his twitter, “No-class act by a bunch of overpaid, immature, arrogant, spoiled brats! “The are idiots.”

It says here that the Dodgers are the Champs and they earned the right to celebrate after a long and trying regular season.  I’m here to say this sounds like a lot of sour grapes.

Speaking of that long regular season, let’s not forget a few incidents this year.  I mean there was that time in June when the Arizona team threw beanballs at Zach Greinke and Yasiel Puig setting off the biggest fight of the Major League season.  I call this sweet revenge for the Dodgers, and full disclosure, I’m no Dodger fan (Go Cards!).

Or we could talk about Arizona staff asking Los Angeles fans, WHO PAID GOOD MONEY FOR SEATS BEHIND HOME PLATE, to remove their Dodgers shirts and hats or move to another area of the ballpark.

Or we could talk about the ridiculousness of building a pool into your ballpark to begin with….

Or the fact that the Dodgers were told before the game began that the Diamondbacks didn’t want them celebrating on their field if they won the division (a rule the Dodgers obeyed by taking it to the Dressing Room and later the pool)….

Or maybe if you don’t like a rival team celebrating on your field or in your pool, then how about you play some better baseball and don’t blow a double digit lead that you had over the Dodgers earlier this season?  How about you don’t let them clinch the division on your own ballpark? To the winners go the spoils and plenty of visiting teams have celebrated their victories and accomplishments in an opposing team’s park over the years.

But maybe I should just let Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson give his opinion on the situation, courtesy of his twitter account.

“Senator McComplain knows a thing or two about coming in second and watching someone take a plunge in the pool (I mean poll)

And thats the last word.
