CIF Playoff Preview: Stars collide in Texas Revs – Dodge City Law matchup
It’s finally here. The 2017 Champions Indoor Football (CIF) Playoffs are set in the South conference. One of the games being played is the second-seeded Texas Revolution taking on the third-seeded Dodge City Law. Let’s look at how the Revolution got to the playoffs.
During the 2017 season, quarterback Chris Dixon, running back Michael Dyer, and wide receiver Clinton Solomon had major contributing parts in many of the key games.
At quarterback, Dixon had one heck of an arm, completing 188 passes for 2171 yards and 53 touchdowns. However, he also threw 12 interceptions.
The Revs top running back in Dyer rushed 116 times for 601 yards through the year. He also rushed for 20 touchdowns and four fumbles.
At Wide Receiver, it’s Clinton Solomon. Nicknamed, “Superman,” Solomon has recorded some impressive stats. In 12 games, he has tallied 65 receptions, 852 yards, and 26 touchdowns.
On the other side of things is the Dodge City Law. Heading into the postseason, the Law could have had a record of 9-3. However, due to them breaking league rules regarding posting video, they were handicapped by losing two of their wins.
With those two wins deducted from their final record, they finished 7-5.
During the regular season, the Revolution and Law met twice, each gaining a victory in the series.
The Law have had their own success during the 2017 season as well. Quarterback Rudy Johnson completed 197 of his passes, threw for 2247 yards, passed for 35 touchdowns, and threw 12 interceptions.
In the passing category, wide receiver David McKinney caught 88 passes for 837 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Finally, at the running back is the Law’s leader of the team. D.J. Abnar rushed for a total of 49 times for 133 yards. However, he did have 8 touchdowns and a fumble.
