National Arena League Week 4 Takeaways

Lions Ready to Roar Again

The Columbus Lions hadn’t played their best football through the first three weeks of the season. They lost to the Jacksonville Sharks in blowout fashion Week 1. While they won their next two games, they were against average trends in the Georgia Firebirds and Corpus Christi Rage.

In Week 4, they showed themselves. They kept it close with a good Lehigh Valley Steelhawks team and even almost came out with what could be considered an upset. Unfortunatley, it’s how you finish. The Lions gave up a touchdown with two seconds left in their Week 4 loss.

Still, their effort showed that they are back to being the team that won two titles in two seasons. In two weeks, they will have another challenge when they host the High Country Grizzlies.

Jacksonville Sharks Shred the League

The Sharks continue to prove to everyone that they are not going to lose this season. They’ve beaten all competition with ease and it doesn’t look like they will be stopped. They even beat their two biggest “challenges” in Lehigh Valley and High Country with no problems.

The next biggest threat is the Monterrey Steel, who they play on April 24. Based on their performance throughout the season, it doesn’t look like they will have any trouble there, either.

Georgia Firebirds: the Middle Man

Georgia is the middle team in the league. They can beat all of the bad teams such as the Corpus Christi Rage and the Dayton Wolfpack. However, when it comes to teams like Jacksonville and High Country, they’re on the short end of the stick.

It doesn’t look like Georgia will make the playoffs in July. Perhaps with a bit more talent, they could see themselves back in it next season.
