Just days before he was scheduled to go to arbitration, Mike Hoffman and the Ottawa Senators have agreed on a new contract. The deal is for four-years and $20.75 million ($5.1875 million AAV). The 26-year-old led the Senators in goals last season with 29. Hoffman was a restricted free agent, and his arbitration hearing was set for August 4th, 2016.

Ottawa Senators sign Mike Hoffman to Four-Year Deal
Hoffman had a marvelous campaign with the Senators last year. In addition to his 29 goals, he added 30 assists for 59 points. His 59 points left him third on the team in scoring, behind only Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone. Hoffman scored nine goals on the powerplay, again leading the Senators in this category. He added 14 power play points overall.
Ottawa originally selected Hoffman in the fifth round, 130th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft. Hoffman played his junior hockey with the Guy Boucher coached Drummondville Voltigeurs. The junior star will re-unite with his old coach this season, as Boucher had been named Senators head coach earlier in the off-season.
Hoffman has registered 59 goals and 113 points in 186 career NHL games over two full NHL seasons. and parts of three others.
