Oklahoma State University has lost a member of their “family.” Tyrek Coger, a men’s basketball player, passed away at the age of 21 on Thursday.
It was stated that Coger had collapsed after a workout earlier today. He was transported to Stillwater Medical Center where he died at 6:23 pm.
OSU Basketball Player Tyrek Coger Passes Away
Coger was a transfer for OSU and hadn’t played a game for the team. Last season he was a member of the Cape Fear Community College basketball team. The Raleigh, North Carolina native had just arrived on campus July 5.
Cowboy head basketball coach Brad Underwood released the following statement as the news broke:
“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy. Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through.”
He was not with the team when this accident occurred, as he was on a recruiting trip.
Please keep Coger’s family, friends, and teammates in your prayers at this difficult time. We at LWOS extend our deepest sympathies in this tragic situation.
