This Week’s NBA Free Agent Signings (July 8th-14th)

Here, we cover the NBA free agent signings that took place from July 8th to 14th, besides those that were covered in the LWOS NBA Free Agent Tracker.

Many NBA free agent signings took place this week, from July 8th to 14th. The LWOS NBA Free Agency Tracker covers all of the major free agents, but there were still several minor moves made over the course of the past week. Here, we cover the role players who changed teams or re-signed anytime from July 8th to 14th.

This Week’s NBA Free Agent Signings (July 8th-14th)

Derrick Williams

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported on July 8th that forward Derrick Williams agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with the Miami Heat:

Williams played for the New York Knicks last season. The Heat will be his fourth NBA team in six seasons.

James Michael McAdoo

Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated reported later that afternoon that big man James Michael McAdoo will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors for one year:

Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today later reported the deal to be worth the NBA’s minimum salary of just over $980,000. McAdoo is going into his third NBA season with the Warriors.

Troy Daniels

The next day, Wojnarowski reported that guard Troy Daniels signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies:

Daniels played in just 43 games last season for the Charlotte Hornets.

Tim Frazier

On July 10th, Shams Charania of The Vertical reported that restricted free agent point guard Tim Frazier will re-sign with the New Orleans Pelicans. His new deal will be worth $4.1 million over two years:

Frazier racked up an impressive 7.5 assists per game in his 16 games with the Pelicans towards the end of last season.

Wayne Ellington

Later that day, Wojnarowski reported that shooting guard Wayne Ellington agreed to sign with the Heat. The contract will pay him just more than $12 million over two years:

Ellington played for the Brooklyn Nets last season. Miami will be his seventh NBA team in eight seasons.

James Johnson

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reported that forward James Johnson will also sign with the Heat. His contract will be worth $4 million for one year:

Johnson played for the Toronto Raptors for the last two seasons.

Jarrett Jack

Hours later, Charania reported that veteran guard Jarrett Jack agreed to sign with the Atlanta Hawks on a one-year deal worth the minimum salary:

Jack was waived by the Nets on June 30th. He tore his ACL in January, causing him to miss most of last season.

Aaron Brooks

Charania reported later that night that another veteran guard, Aaron Brooks, was close to signing a one-year contract with the Indiana Pacers:

Brooks ended up signing with the Pacers on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum salary. He spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

Greivis Vasquez

Yet another veteran combo guard was on the move on Sunday night. This time, Greivis Vasquez signed a one-year deal (assumed to be for the minimum salary) with the Nets, according to Wojnarowski:

Vasquez missed most of last season, in which he played for the Milwaukee Bucks, due to a significant ankle injury.

Kris Humphries

On Monday night, veteran big man Kris Humphries agreed to re-sign with the Hawks. His new contract will be worth $4 million for one year:

Humphries played in just 21 games for the Hawks last season. Atlanta is the journeyman’s eighth NBA team.

Sasha Vujacic

Charania reported on Tuesday morning that New York will re-sign shooting guard Sasha Vujacic to a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum salary:

Vujacic struggled in 61 games with the Knicks last season, scoring 4.9 points per game on just 38.3 percent shooting.

Luis Scola

Later on Tuesday, Wojnarowski reported that power forward Luis Scola agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Nets:

The contract was later reported to be worth the veteran minimum salary. The 36-year-old Scola played for the Raptors last season, starting in all 76 of his regular season games before running out of gas near the end of the year.

Isaiah Canaan

Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com reported on Tuesday night that guard Isaiah Canaan agreed to a contract with the Bulls. The deal will pay Canaan $2.2 million over two years:

Canaan, a high volume three-point shooter, played in a career-high 77 games for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

Jordan Hill

Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday afternoon that big man Jordan Hill agreed to sign a two-year, $8 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves:

Hill played in 73 games for the Pacers last season. The T-Wolves will be his fifth team in eight NBA seasons.

Christian Wood

On Wednesday night, Charania reported that big man Christian Wood will sign a two-year contract with the Hornets:

The contract is expected to be for the minimum salary, or close to it. Wood played in just 17 games for Philadelphia last season, which was his rookie year.

Pablo Prigioni

Later that night, Wojnarowski reported that point guard Pablo Prigioni agreed to a two-year contract with the Houston Rockets:

The deal was later reported to be for the veteran minimum salary, which was all the Rockets could offer. It also has a team option for the second year. Prigioni played part of the 2014-15 season with the Rockets before signing with the Los Angeles Clippers and spending last season with them.

Joe Harris

A few minutes later, Wojnarowski reported that shooting guard Joe Harris agreed to sign with Brooklyn:

The deal was later reported to be worth $2 million over two years. Harris previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers but was traded to the Orlando Magic, who promptly waived him, earlier this season.

Terrence Jones

Early Thursday morning, Charania reported that power forward Terrence Jones was close to signing a one-year deal with the Pelicans:

Charania later reported the agreement to be final. Jones played the first four seasons of his NBA career with Houston. His market value took a dive over the past two seasons, as he struggled with injuries throughout both years. Jones will now look to re-build his value next year in New Orleans.
