The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series slides into Rossburg, Ohio this weekend for one of the marquee events on the near-100 race schedule, the King’s Royal.
Stewart Ups-The-Ante for 33rd King’s Royal
Eldora Speedway plays host to the King’s Royal again this season, however this time around, Tony Stewart has upped the ante. What used to be a two-night event that raced the consecutive Friday and Saturday after the Brad Doty Classic has been expanding to three nights with a new purse in 2016.
The Brad Doty Classic was moved to Tuesday and Stewart has provided the World of Outlaws drivers with a $10,000 and $12,000 purses for the first two nights of the event. Not to mention, a $50,000-to-win Main Event on Saturday Night
“Another race at Eldora,” Christopher Bell said of the new format on the new World of Outlaws Podcast, Open Red. “I love it, I’m excited to get there.”
This year’s 33rd annual King’s Royal should be another thriller. A repeat winner has not been crowned in eight years proving that no one really has the upper hand this weekend.
The closest thing to an advantage that a driver has is Donny Schatz. The 7-time World of Outlaws Champion is heating up just in the nick of time for the Royal.
Schatz has won the past three of four, and four of six World of Outlaws’ events. He was almost crowned king last year before his car fizzled out and Shane Stewart passed him for the lead with five laps to go.
Tune into Eldora Speedway’s website in order to watch the Pay-Per-View event and find out who will be crowned king in 2016.
