WWE Tag Teams That Should Be Separated

The WWE Draft is finally almost upon us, and it's almost guaranteed that some tag teams will be separated. Which ones should be split?

Just in case you haven’t been watching WWE television lately, allow me to catch you up. Any time that a tag team is wrestling, Michael Cole, JBL, and even Byron Saxton ask the same damn question. “What happens if you get drafted to Raw, and (insert teammate name) gets drafted to SmackDown?”, as if we’ve forgotten that it’s a possibility. And while they bring it up too often, it is a fair point. When the draft happens next Tuesday on SmackDown, there will be tag teams that break up. Here are a few that should.

WWE Tag Teams That Should Be Separated

Primo & Epico

Primo and Epico must have some really damaging dirt on the WWE. It’s the only thing I can think of. It’s the only way that these two can continue to be repackaged over and over again. Despite failing to get over or pick any steam, these two just keep getting pushes, and they’re always annoying. Has anyone really enjoyed the “Shining Stars” vignettes? I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be heels that say Puerto Rico is better than America or patriotic babyfaces. It’s not likely that these two will be split up, especially with vignettes still airing, but it would be funny.

The Golden Truth

This angle has been going on for far too long. The “Golden Truth” tag team has been building since before FastLane five months ago. The two have only recently begun teaming, and they have yet to pick up steam. The sing-along entrance, the name, and the team itself are awful. R-Truth is 44 and Goldust is 47. In a tag team division headlined by Enzo & Cas, The New Day, The Club, and The Usos, there’s no room for these two and their awful act.

The Lucha Dragons

Kalisto has surpassed Sin Cara in the WWE, and if he really is the heir to Rey Mysterio‘s throne, he needs to break off on his own. These two haven’t won much of anything on the main roster since their debut earlier this year, and there’s no rebuilding their push at this point. Sin Cara, while underutilized in WWE, is still a talented worker, and it would be better for both men if they went separate ways.

The New Day

Sadly, there’s one group on this list that people actually like. Over the last two years, the group of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have been entertaining WWE fans all around the world as The New Day. The meta, sarcastic, childish humor has gotten over big, and as a result, they’ve been WWE Tag Team Champions since last August. Sadly, their days may be numbered. The trio have already feuded with basically every tag team on the main roster, and there’s not much left to do. It could be argued that the team could just lose the belts and keep wrestling, but there’s another problem.

The biggest reason that fans want to see The Shield get back together is that they were at their hottest when they broke up. They were at the top of their game when the WWE pulled the plug, and the fans have been clamoring for a reunion ever since. Most factions don’t get that perk. Most of them are split up only after they’ve become stale and it’s harder for the individuals to succeed. We’ve already seen hints that their days are numbered as Xavier Woods as show reluctance when taunting the Wyatt Family.

Nobody outside of Stamford, Connecticut knows which teams will survive the brand split. It may be all of these teams, it may be none of these teams. All we know is things are about to get very interesting in the WWE, and things will never, e-e-ever, be the same again.
