Every CFL week includes enough highlights for fans to talk about until football returns a week later, and a few lowlights that keep fans shaking their heads. The LWOS CFL team takes a look with Three and out week three at the highlights and lowlights of the week that was in the CFL.
Three and Out Week Three
Game of the Week: Ottawa Redblacks vs. Calgary Stampeders

Player of the Week: Adarius Bowman
The Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders, 39-36 in overtime due in part because of outstanding game by speedster, Adarius Bowman.
Bowman was quarterback Mike Reilly‘s favourite end zone threat Friday night, catching six passes for 141 yards and a hat-trick of touchdowns.
Bowman made his presence felt in the second quarter and fourth quarter. He scored the first Eskimos first touchdown of the game on a 56- yard bomb by Reilly with 5:34 left in the second quarter. He would finish the quarter with three catches for 95 yards and the one touchdown. In the fourth quarter, he scored the Eskimos only two touchdowns of the quarter. His first touchdown came at the very beginning of the quarter, a five-yard pitch-and-catch with Reilly to make it a seven point lead for Eskimos.
Bowman got his second touchdown of the quarter with a 31-yard pass from Reilly with nine minutes left in the game. He finished the quarter with three catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns. He scored almost half of the Eskimos points in the game with 18 out 39 points.
Bowman is regarded as one of the best home-run threats in the CFL right now. In Friday’s game, he demonstrated that he is unstoppable even when he is being double-teamed. The Roughriders do not have a terrible defense but Bowman found ways to beat them.
Edmonton Eskimos will play Winnipeg Blue-Bombers on Thursday night. With a win, Edmonton would move to 2-1 on the year.

Unnecessary Participation: Ryan Smith Catch
If any CFL fan hasn’t seen the Ryan Smith catch yet, they are living under a rock. “The Catch” has made its wave across the CFL fan base right across the border to football fans in the United States. Even EA Sports Madden NFL chimed in on the action.

Drew Willy‘s throw was so accurate, Smith did not even need to look to catch it. Considering Smith wasn’t looking at his quarterback, Willy really should not have thrown that ball, and it could have been a disastrous play in the end zone. Instead, it turned into the highlight of the season.
For the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, it’s just not fair! They are trying to win a football game and Winnipeg is throwing touchdowns without even looking. How fun is that for the Ti-Cats? With all seriousness put aside, LWOS flags Smith for unnecessary participation, as he broke tradition and caught the first – and probably only – no-look touchdown in football history.
