New Jersey Devils Re-Sign Kyle Palmieri

The New Jersey Devils have locked up their leading scorer, inking winger Kyle Palmieri to a five-year, $23.25 million deal. The deal carries an AAV/Cap Hit of $4.65 million per season. Palmieri was a restricted free agent. He recently filed for salary arbitration.

Palmieri, 25, scored 30 goals and 27 assists for 57 points last year. He has a real offensive breakout in his first season with the Devils after coming over from the Anaheim Ducks in a 2015 trade. The Devils gave up a second and third round pick in the deal. In six NHL seasons, Palmieri has put up 73 goals and 73 assists for 146 points in 280 career games with the Ducks and the Devils.

A New Jersey native, Palmieri is excited to stay with the Devils. He said the following via the team’s official website:

“For me it just brings pure excitement,” Palmieri said. “Obviously I had a great time and it was a lot of fun this year. With the additions we’ve made this summer I’m really looking forward to what the future might hold for this team.”

The Anaheim Ducks drafted Palmieri in the first round, 26th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
