As the back-up to Jonathan Quick, it was hard for Jhonas Enroth to see time between the pipes this season. He has decided to move on from the Kings and sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The deal is for one-year and worth $750,000.

Jhonas Enroth Signs

Enroth spent his eighth season in the league as the backup goaltender for the Los Angeles Kings. With someone like Jonathan Quick in front of him, starts for Enroth were far and few in between. The goaltender appeared in just 16 games, 13 of those starts. He finished with a 7-5-1 record, with a 2.17 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

The goaltender was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He would later make his NHL debut in November of 2009, giving up four goals and taking the loss. His next game was not until the next season, a game in which he played 20 minutes and gave up three goals for his second career loss.

Enroth would record his first career win just a few days later in a shootout win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. His next two wins would also come via the shootout. He became the the first goaltender in NHL history to win his first three games in a shootout.

In June of 2013, Enroth signed a two year deal to stay with the Sabres. He was promoted to the starting goaltender when Ryan Miller was traded to the St. Louis Blues. During the two years he played, he recorded a 61-17-7 record before later being traded to the Dallas Stars.

He spent the rest of that season with the Stars, recording a 13-5-5 record with 2.38 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. He then signed the one-year deal with the Kings during the offseason.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting a goaltender who, while he lacks the size, makes up for it with his agility. He uses his quick reflexes and great instincts to make outstanding saves.  He is expected to back up Frederik Andersen.
